My wife went through two surgeries this year. In March, she had a complicated heart valve replacement to correct a condition she had since birth. Then a routine cat-scan a few months later revealed a massive nasal/brain tumor. Luckily it proved to be benign, but it had grown so large over decades of being undetected, that it had to be removed in July-- a 9 hour operation. Sure we were scared to the core, especially the tumor. But it had to be done; avoiding surgery was a not an option.

Research your disease, do a Google search, getting as much info as you can. Also, check on surgeons and get the best available--not the one that's closest to home. In our case, we were referred to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota both times--and the trips up there were well worth it.

If you can't do this for yourself, then think of your wife and others that care for you. Man up and get it done. Certainly you'll be in our prayers.

P.S. Forget about what I said concerning "trust fund babies". The comment was meant for the Paris Hiltons of this world, not you. Plus it's not fair to pigeon hole everyone into one category. Good luck to you, buddy.

Good luck Accuscore. What hedgehog said is true. Understand your condition, and ask your doctor as many questions as you need to ask. However, make sure you decide quickly because if you delay in having this procedure, and what your doctor said is correct, the time for action may pass.

If you decide to go ahead with the surgery, have faith and I am sure you will be fine.

Dude go to the hospital immediately. I had this before, all you need is a day or two of IV anti-biotics. Abcess infection gets in your bloodstream, you are a dead man. They will throw in some good IV pain meds too.

Gl man and I will say a prayer for you.

I have had major ear surgery a few years back. The drugs they give you are so potent you don't feel anything by way of pain for over two days. I had the operation on the Friday and when I came out on the Monday I was feeling so good I told them I didn't need any painkillers. I happily went home only to end up feeling really sore about 12 hours later and sheepishly had to go back to the hospital for the painkillers!

Yes I did have some pain and soreness that week after but the days in hospital were fine. You get such a massive high from waking up and it carries you through for about two days.

Good Luck - It may sound weird but I had a lot of good funny moments and I am sure you will too.

If the doc says surgery, get the surgery. Or get a 2nd opinion if you think he's full of it. Infections are not something to mess around with. When I was in Iraq, I got a face infection with the swelling & all. Turned out to be a zit got infected, no abcess. Gave me antibiotics & hot compress. I got lucky. You need to get the procedure done or you'll die or end up looking like a freak.

I feel the same way you do about docs. & hospitals but this is not one of those small things we just tough out infection needs to be taking care of. To men i knew that grew in the same area where i did one was on vac. got sick waited until return home(3 days) to see his doc. Laid in hospital 5 days died.Doc said if he had faster care would have been fine probably just would have needed prescription. Other man came home from work early sick did'nt go to doc for 7 days laid around at home all week he wasnt even able to get to car by himself, stayed in icu for over 3 weeks died.The 2nd one was in hospital same time as my sister who had been in a car accident my family was in the same waiting area as his.They got there few days before us. My sister stayed 14 days he was still there when we left. I work with his son-in -law, he told me the next week he had died. Again if he had went to doc that first day probably just a prescription. I tell you this in hopes you get the care you need quickly!! You'll be in my prays.

Quite a while back, I went through major surgery (heart defect). My young son (4) went through two fairly major surgeries during the last two years (that was harder for me than my own).

Know that the medical system is incredible. They do miracles. Inform yourself about the situation. Get the best nutrition you know, and what exercise you safely can (like walk around the block, and get fresh air). Listen to music. Clear your mind and breathe. Find a doctor you feel good about. Go with the program with all your heart. Most importantly -- realize way down deep that the cure has begun. Your body is healing.

You'll get through this.

man thanks for all the great wishes guys.this is coming to a head as soon as the wife wakes up im going in,i have no other choice i know its life threatining at this point,the local doctor even said so,and my eye good lord such pain as its spreading.
its not to populated were i live so im pretty sure ill get in fast,im a 3 pack a day smoker and only 30yrs old so i am going to contraband some snuff.the only thing i will be dreaming of is poker,and how im going to take it out on sportsbooks when i get released,i know something is wrong with me cause i aint layed a nickel in 2-3 days

You come on the here the 7th explaining a scary situation you find yourself having to deal with(swollen face)do you remember that?

You reach out to the forum for support and prayers.

You get an overwhelming positive response back from all but one poster, encouraging you and giving you their prayers.

They all genuinly seemed concerned for you and wished you there best,and that you should come back with an update.

Was this post your idea of an update?

I take it alls well with your medical problem, great, and if not i will reiderate what the others have stated already, i hope nothing but good health to you in the future.

That said, your update upon your return here makes me wonder if you were scared of surgery or missing a few nights of betting.

I find it hysterical that you returned here, and did not give us a medical update as to your condition, instead you give us a complete update as to your plays.(funny stuff)

Perhaps BEANTOWNJIM had the right idea?
I surely didnt think so when i first read it.

I just think you got your priorities confused,your fellow posters who responded to your situation were entitled to a medical update , then we could start to talk about your plays that we see.

yeah my face is ok guys,thanks for the wishes and prayers i was so happy to get out.im glad im better, it really sucked having that on my cheeck.i know alot of people here went through alot with doctors,and stuff i know the feeling now with my be-littled exp,im am gratefull.
i was also exited to get back to sticking it to the books to,guess after hearing the cranberries sing it made me get exited pre-mature or somthing because that song brings alot of emotion for me,but these days i have more motivation from it.
