While I agree that most drugs should be legalized, legalizing them wouldn't stop addicted criminals from committing crimes to get them.

Completely stupid response. Most people would not suddenly starting using drugs. If we woke up tomorrow morning, and find out that we can buy heroin in pre-loaded syringes at your friendly neighborhood convenience store, are you going to go and buy some and shoot up? It's not likely.

Look at the case in point with alcohol. Do we have a society filled with non-functioning alcoholics? Are these alcoholics committing all sorts of crimes in order to get more alcohol? No.

u know nothing. alchohol is a very weak drug. very little dopamine/serotonin release. coke, heroine, meth (), u r a moron. these drugs are 10-100x's more addicting.........and yes ppl eventually would wander into cvs to but some meth, get hooked in a week and would be all done. so meth usage would go up about 1000%, yes thats a good plan

Where do you get your numbers from? In countries where drugs are "decriminalized" they actually have less drug users then we have here in the U.S.. I can't say for sure what would happen if we legalized ALL drugs in the U.S. but my guess would be that drug use would stay almost exactly the same. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me entirely if drug use actually went down. By the way, nicotine(although not lethal, at least not immediately) is one of the most addicting drugs on the planet. What percentage of the U.S. population smokes cigarettes? I know it's less than 80% and I'm pretty sure it's less than 40%.

I really don't think non-meth users would wander into CVS to buy some meth. I don't smoke cigarettes and I've never wandered into a gas station to buy some, nor do I know anyone that doesn't smoke cigarettes that has ever done that. Did you know that Anti-Freeze is LETHAL... and legal? When was the last time you wandered into your garage to drink some? Have you ever met anyone that has ever done that? Oral sex is illegal in some states. Have you ever turned down a BJ because it was illegal? Legalizing drugs would most likely not change anything except that gang banging drugs dealers would now have to get a real job. And not to mention you could tax the hell out of it and the economy would be saved. People should be FOR Freedom of choice, not against it.

HA! there is no war on drugs. The government are the ones who brought all the drugs into the United States, as they did during the Opium Wars and during the Vietnam War. They also financed Noriega to bring in the drugs.

Portugal decriminalized drugs (for personal use). Why not read up before saying that 99% of people would become addicts.

the major flaw in assuming addiction would explode is once again not trusting Americans to make decisions for themselves. the overwhelming majority of Americans would have to keep their jobs, raise their families, graduate college, make something of themselves....

give people the freedom and ability to make their own decisions, and many of those will be the correct decisions.
