Bring some clarity to an un-altered mind
In my time on the forums there are many varied types of people that I have encountered. Some serious, some funny and some delusional and some who change depending on what side of the topic they are on. One thing I have also noticed is how many people either use, have used or are totally accepting of those that use drugs. It’s no secret that I don’t now nor have I ever used drugs but many of you have. It got me to thinking, do users classify themselves in relation to other types of users?

Does a crystal meth user look down on say a huffer? Does a heroine user think they are superior to a crackhead? Do those addicted to prescription pills consider themselves less of an addict than those who use cocaine? On the flip side, does the huffer consider himself the lowest form of addict?

I find it ironic that a cokehead wouldn’t allow a crackhead in their house nor even allow a huffer to manicure their lawns but I’m sure in some areas of life this is the case.

So sound off, are there sliding scales and accepted class levels amongst drug users?

I think generally those that are addicted to a drug to the extent that it's fvcking up their lives do not pass judgment on anyone else.

If you are a recreational user that is able to control yourself you may very well look down on those with chronic drug problems, just as many people who abstain from drug use would.

However, people who are addicted to prescription pills definitely see themselves as "better" than those who are addicted to street drugs, generally because they are wealthier and cannot bring themselves to see themselves as a drug addict and because they convince themselves that they do not have a problem since the pills are prescribed by a doctor. I.e. Rush Limbaugh.

Jesus Christ...didn't even read the thread before posting....go figure.

Conveniently, all drugs users tend to exhibit the qualities listed.

In all honesty there is a pecking order
at the 12+ rehabs I was at, when it was lunch time at the long term facility(3 months +) no matter if you where there a day if you where a Heroin addict you got to the front of the line with the rest of the heroin addicts
The order went something like this when the cafeteria opened
              1)Heroin addicts
              2)Alcoholics
              3)Oxy/percs/Vicodin Addicts
              4)Methadone detox
              5)Pill poppers (Valium,Klonopin,xanax,etc)
6)Anyone in the Medical field who had "Light Fingers" around the Pharmacy lock up(Docotrs, nurses,Pharmacist)
              7)People who partied to much(Booze,coke,etc)
              8)Meth addicts
              9)Crack heads....

You can "share", be social and "help others" and still be ego-maniacal.

Class does exist and is probably correlated with "drug type" (cost/look/route of administration and cultural acceptability).
