    DirecTV in Canada
I have a friend in the States, who is willing to help me get DTV, but she lives in a apartment and can't get DTV. Is there anyway she can still get DTV without having the installer coming to her place and do the install and just have the systems sent to her and then she can send it to me in Canada and I will activate it. She will have it billed to her US credit card of course.

That is a nice friend m3vr6. With benefits?

And yes she can pick up the equipment herself from authorized sellers if memory serves me correctly.

because due to Canadian content regulations you cannot get direcTV in canada. there used to be tons of pirated sets but they are now gone as no one can unscramble it anymore. Just go for it is what I say and get me one while your at it.

You can buy a unit at best buy or circuit city without having one of their techs installing it, however what you need to do is somehow have it activated within the USA. Does your friend know somebody that has a DTV dish setup? If so you could just activate it over at that persons house. Once it's activated then your ok.

Is that the Latin American version Durito?

Many online places will ship you the direct tv dish. Just never call the installer to set up a time. Call direct tv to activate.

I've installed my own dish 3 or 4 times as I've always lived in condos where I could not get permission in writing to let them install it...

Thx for the replies guys. Canadian TV sucks. we don't even get to see the good american commercials during Super Bowl.

I dont miss all the pro packages anymore. I realized you can only view one game at a time and when you have access to all the games all you do is flip and not enjoy any one game. I got use to watching national tv games, espn games and my local stuff, way more than enough.
