Best places to live according to CNN Money

    #1. Eden Prairie, MN

Why is Eden Prairie No. 1 this year? Not only is it family-friendly, it has a dynamite economy too. At 5.1%, its unemployment rate is nearly one percentage point below the county rate and more than four points below the national average. It helps when you've got 50,000 jobs right in town.
Major employers include Fortune 500 trucking company C.H. Robinson, hearing-aid maker Starkey Labs, and the Minnesota Vikings, whose practice facility and front office are here. As for fiscal strength, Moody's gives the town a perfect AAA bond rating.
While it doesn't have much of a downtown, there's plenty of outer beauty: from gently rolling hills to 17 lakes that residents flock to year-round for swimming and ice skating. Town parks are laced with 125 miles of running, hiking, and biking trails.
No wonder residents rank among the healthiest people in the nation. Add in top-notch schools and safe streets and you've got a place that's tough to beat. --Ismat Mangla

Compare Piscataway to Top 10 Best Places
Rutgers University takes up a good chunk of this town's 19 square miles. Athletics are big here, with the township providing a free service for youth to join recreational leagues. With a growing corporate presence -- it's home to an emerging technology industry -- Piscataway has many employment opportunities. It's also a 45-minute train commute to midtown Manhattan. --N.A.

The city is home to the University of Iowa, but it's not just any old college town. Thank the rich literary history and in particular the Iowa Writers' Workshop, whose graduates include John Irving, Flannery O'Connor, and T.C. Boyle. In fact, UNESCO designated Iowa City as the world's third "City of Literature."
When residents aren't in the presence of university students and great writing, they can be found enjoying the annual Iowa City Jazz Festival and the nationally known acts it brings at the campus' Old Capital building. --J.S.

The list means little unless customized to what you desire.

                                              Hamden, Ct made it

                                              very ordinary place.

I value warm winter weather, a lack of Nigerians ( aka low crime), being near an ocean low taxes/ property value/rent, prefer light traffic/ not real big city type of congestion.

Biloxi, Mississippi might be great for me. An avid snowskier might want Colo or Utah, and hate the deep South.

No where North of 40 degrees Latitude works well for me. I would take Ames, Iowa over a too Black place like Birmingham, Ala, though !

You have to balance all the factors. I'd love Hawaii....can't afford it, being a Howlie wouldn't help but I could manage that if I had big money.

Relative to what you desire !

Seems to have jobs, low crime, good schools, nice family type place, probably don't have to even lock your doors.

                                                    Not for me !

I've never seen anybody move to IOWA, but plenty leave. Winters would kill me there.

they probably don't even lock their doors, right ?

I know of these Mayberry type places.

People in Toronto don't lock doors.

I normally leave my truck unlocked at home, key not left in the ignition, but like in the door panel or in obvious view at times. Not quite Canadian, but I don't lock up like Ft. Knox.
