Hey guys, I am sure you can help me with this. I am flying soon to USA to visit my wife's family and staying there some 25 days. I will, of course, try to escape from all of them for at least a week to Las Vegas so can you recommend me the best place to stay in terms of best price/service ratio and the best places to play poker, tournaments and smaller cash games, 5\10 dollars blinds? THX!

#10If you say what your budget is for a room, maybe I can give you some suggestions. As a first timer, I suggest you stay on The Strip.Comment -

#11stay at ballys, beautiful rooms and walk right across the street to bellagio. check harrahs website for specials to get low rates. being a tourist you dont want to stay off the strip, its defeats the purpose of going to vegas.Comment -

#12the budget would be up to 800-900$ for 7 nights with air plane tickets from Louisville. I saw that most of the hotels fit this range like MGM, harrahs, mirage, paris, new york new york, ballys, treasure island, monte carlo, luxor etc. it would be nice to have a nice poker room there as wellComment -

#14OK......from the list of hotels you mentioned, I'd suggest MGM, Mirage, Treasure Island or Paris. Do not stay at the Luxor, Harrahs or the Excalibur.Comment -

#15From the list you provided I would suggest Paris. It's closest to the center of the strip and is also the nicest of the choices. Also, your going to definitely want to stay on the strip for your first time to Vegas, trust me. Excalibur is an excellent choice if you would like to save a couple hundred bucks. The rooms are decent there for the price but the property is tricky to get in and out of and it is towards the end of the strip, which will mean more walking/taxi to where your going to want to be for your poker. Paris will put you close by your poker destinations and is the nicest of your available choices, I'd go with it for your first time so you can figure everything out and tour the strip accordingly while staying in a nice place as well.Comment -

#16If you're staying at that end of the strip (Excalibur, NYNY, Luxor, MGM) I would suggest Tropicana as they just re-did their Paradise rooms (very nice now) and have a promo going on where your room is $50 but you get $50 in free slot play per day...so if you can break even on the slot play your room is basically free. If you can't get this promo on certain dates, their rooms are pretty inexpensive to begin with.Comment -

#17if this is a once in a lifetime-type trip i would suggest you do it up right and stay at one of the top notch hotels, from your list i would pick
paris
bellagio
mirage
mgm
anywhere you stay on the strip will be within walking distance of some of the finest hotels and casinos in the world!

#19Harrah's, Flamingo, Bally's all offer central strip location, but not ridiculous in price....... if you want to stay downtown, Fremont isn't bad, and if you don't mind staying slightly off strip, you can stay at The Orleans, which has shuttles between there, Gold Coast, and Bill's Casino on center strip. All of those are nice...... I would avoid Circus Circus and Stratosphere (north strip, lots of kids and punks), Bellagio and Aria (unless money is no object -- nice to visit, but very pricey to stay), and Excalibur or Tropicana (old and worn)Comment -

#20Downtown Vegas is the place. The Golden Nugget is always fun and you can walk to 5-10 casinos with low limits. If you stay on the strip you will have to rent a car or cab it.Comment -

#21You guys that say f_uck the strip make me wonder where you do all your f_ucking gambling.
I can stay at harrahs properties (harrahs, ballys, imperial, flamingo) for FREE
Bills for FREE
MGM properties (Grand, Mirage, Riviera) for FREE
Sahara for FREE
not sure why the f_uck you guys need to pay for rooms. even to get a 2bdrm suite is a mere $40 upgrade.Comment -

#22If you dont care about staying down on the strip stay at one of the station casinos, Green valley ranch or red rock.
If you are going to stay down by the strip try the MGM, every morning at 10am they have a $70 buy in tournament and they only let in 70 people with 10 alternates, 1st place wins roughly $1500. The poker room at the venetian is huge has tons of tables and good action saturdays there is a $330 buy in tourny deep stack, and the payout for first is around $20,000. The venetian also has a seperate high stakes area which is nice. If you just want higher stakes in general try the Wynn, Caesars, & Bellagio. No matter where you stay make sure you get a players card and when you first get there you can walk into most poker rooms and there will be a poker magazine rack, look for POKER PLAYER MAGAZINE, in the back page there is a list of almost every casino and the poker games or tournaments which they hold daily. Its very useful you can find tournaments you want to play in and give that poker room a call to see how many entrants have been entering and the payouts. If you want to play against solid local vegas poker players you will find alot of them at Green valley ranch, Red Rock, and the Orleans. They have good $2-$5 cash gamesComment -

#26Aria is hands down the best. Rooms are futuristic, EVERYTHING is controlled by a digital remote (curtains, tv, lights, you name it) Service is 5 star, sports book has the newest high def flatscreens and the most comfortable leather recliners and sofas, food at Julian Serrano's is the best you will ever have.... and the pool..... hottest chicks ever hanging out at Liquid, the adult pool in the back

#30stay with your lean - mgm/planet hollywood great location with plenty of walkable options for poker cash games/tourneys
golden nugget is decent but other than that downtown is only fun for the overhead light show, even binion's doesn't have much to offer in terms of poker for someone that's going to play a lotComment -

#35Wherever you wind up staying or playing be sure to sign up for a Players card. If you play long enough and are an average better you can get Free everything. ie. food, rooms, free plays all sorts of stuff.
