OK so I put on a few pounds over the winter. Basically I am now fat as hell weighing in a whopping 40 lbs more than the max weight on the height/weight chart for a large frame.

I started dieting on June 1st and been eating nothing but soup/salads, turkey, cereal, fruits, veggies. No cheating at all. Also been running 3-6 miles six days a week. Very frustrating because I have only dropped 9.5 lbs over the last 33 days.

What the fukk you got to do to achieve this dramatic weight loss??? Run and exercise constantly, while basically not eating seems the only way.

Stop eating and when you do eat, promptly regurgitate it.

    Thank me later.

The main problem most people make is forgetting to increase muscle mass to facilitate fat loss. If you have a reasonable layer of muscle, your body will burn fat while you're resting at a higher rate than if you don't have much muscle mass.

I was into a survival situation for 21 days...I eat survival rations for 18 days, limited water...and eat nothing for 3 days...I lost around 15 lb. But is very tough...after 8-10 days you start dreaming about food...I don't think a fatty can stay on survival food and fruits for 3 weeks...I give them 10 hours before they will puck the diet and drive to a donut shop.

9.5lbs of actually weight loss is wonderful!

Keep in mind each pound is 3500 calories. Plus, in your case, you have added a little muscle, from running, which added a little more weight as muscle is heavier than fat. So, actually you have lost more than 9.5lbs of fat, which is even better.

Don't be fooled by ads of losing a great amount of weight over 30 days. For example, if 3500 calories is 1 pound, then a slightly overweight person would burn about 3000 calories a day, give or take some depending on life style. Anyway, you get my point, there is no way for 3500 calories of fat to burn off each day, especially if you are eating anything. However, if I was to give you a diuretic and made you start to lose water, then of course this 30 pounds in 30 days could be achieved, but it wouldn't be actual fat pounds gone, just mostly water.

So, keep up the good work and don't get discouraged!

Hey man thanks, just you here these ads that make it seem like losing weight is easy. In fact it's extremely hard and doesn't come off as fast as you like.

Losing the 40lbs is going to take the whole summer.

More then a summer...you need to exercise more and get on a reasonable diet. Do not try any products claiming it will help you lose weight, they could have devastating side effects...damage your heart or liver.

Drink 2 or more glasses of water before you start your meal. You will actually feel full sooner and eat less. You body will stay hydrated and burn calories faster. I know it seems simple but it works. Also, eating several small amounts throughout the day rather than the traditional breakfast, lunch, and dinner theme, will adjust your body to motabolize energy faster and not convert calories to fat. And most important of all, stay away from anything with saturated fat, ie... all processed foods. There are no super fast weight loss diet plans Emily, only fads and lies to entice you to part with your money! It's sounds like you're off to a good start, stick with it, it takes the body a while to adjust, but it will happen, you just have to want it to.

Emily, 10lbs in a month really is awesome and is the safest way to do it. I've always heard at least that losing any more than 2.5lbs a week is not only dangerous as it can eventually strain your organs but just sets you up for an inevitable weight gain when you ease off a restricted diet again.

No matter what you do, try your hardest to resist the urge to buy any of those lose weight quick gimmicks. So many of my friends have tried all sorts of rubbish and not only did the majority of them act like crackheads while popping pills/guzzling shakes etc..., but a few of them did some semi-serious damage to their livers and stomach linings. So not worth it at all.

Just keep doing what you're doing - but remember, muscle weighs more than fat so if you find your numbers start to flatten a bit, step off the scale and keep on running and eating well. You'll still feel a hell of a lot better about yourself no matter what some silly scale says.

Emily, those that have lost the 30 in 30 are generally 100lbs or more overweight. Once you've reached that level of obesity it is much easier to lose at that rate. The problem is though that many people who have become so obese, while they can lose a dramatic amount in a very little period of time can not maintain the loss and gain that plus more back.

What you have done will ultimately be healthier and sustaining. Be PROUD of the weight you have lost. Remain commited to your goal and the exercise routine you have implimented.

You didn't mention it but if you are drinking diet sodas they actually hurt many peoples metabolism and interfere with the weight loss. Another thing to is, forget those charts for height and weight. Set you goal based on how you look and feel.

                                    Emily
