I want to build my own ATS handicapping excel model from scratch
Hey guys, huge cfb fan here. I've been reading these forums for a while and they're are loaded with awesome info. I'm pretty pumped I found this resource. I joined bc I am ready to take my cfb handicapping to the "next level". I want to build an ATS handicapping excel model and compare it to my personal cfb ATS opinions. I'm in finance so I am approaching this experiment sort of like hedge funds doing both technical analysis and fundamental analysis. Anyhew, I know handicapping models rarely work long-term so it's really going to be just just for fun. My old college buddies friends and I are developing a 'braintrust' haha.

Anyway, I have a ton of independant variables that I want to track each of their correlations to covering ATS for the last 5 years (PF/PA/RYPG/PYPG/etc). Can anyone point me in the right direction to where I can find ATS results for every cfb game the last 5 years? Any good resources to find the stats too? Ideally, free resource are preferred haha.

btw, if anyone has any general tip for a first-time-model-builder-long-time-fan/sportsbettor, def let me know.

    Welcome

    Like the spunk you bring

    My PERSONAL advice.......

    1. Spend more time watching games and reviewing game film
    2. Attempt to scalp/middle more then you probably do now

Again, welcome, this is a great forum.

So I make my first post, go to ESPN.com for one second to see if Lebron picked the Knicks, come back to see my post just for fun, and I somehow I already have two replies - one of them from a legend!?!! This site is sweeeeet! Btw, I spend waaaaay to much free time watching games and analysis. I often wish I didn't grow up in Alabama and graduate from an SEC school (Vandy). That recipe literally made me addicted to cfb. That's one of the reasons I want to build this model haha.
