a unit is typically 100 dollars, it is whatever one wants it to be, typically 100 units would be ones entire bankroll

Unit is the base amount you've broken your bankroll into and varies according to how much money as a whole you're gambling with. Typically though on here, a unit = $100 so 1.5 would = $150.

I should've added - obviously if you're starting with say $1000, your unit size wouldn't be $100 or in 10 plays you could be wiped out.

Units is also an imaginary number that touts use when they are losing. So if they are are down a bunch of units they can just say their next play is 100 units, 1000 units, 10000 units etc., whatever they need to martingale to be "Plus units".

Most recreational players here only deposit 1 unit then.

But you're correct, it is whatever one wants it to be.

If you want to track your plays like most do for 1 unit per play:

For example if you like Florida -112
If it wins you're +1.00 unit
if it loses you're -1.12 units

Or if you liked SD +102
If it wins you're +1.02 units
if it loses you're -1.00 unit

Unit is theoretical term used for a certain % of bankroll/budget. Use it instead of saying cash because monetary amount shouldn't matter as long as the decision to bet the game was sound (i.e.+EV)
