    microsoft
so i bought this laptop last year and a buddy of mine installed the 2003 software for me....

anyway, somehow a couple days ago my 2003 icon had somehow become 2007....not sure how it happened, i uploaded a couple word documents online, maybe microsoft detected i was using an old version and switched my 2003 to 2007 without me knowing....

anyway, all the stuff i have saved in word, i can't do anything but look at it....can't even copy and paste it to something else....they want to charge me $280.....WTF

anybody know a way around this?

You downloaded Window's Genuine Advantage. Ask the Ivanator...he once broke into Citibank's system. You're ****ed if you ask me.

Just do a system restore. The day before it all went haywire. Then next time updates come up, don't let it install it automatically. Go through the updates and don't install the Window's Genuine Advantage update

RE-install the system and do the hard disc format, that will help for sure

Before you do anything drastic, check out http://www.openoffice.org/

It opens any word documents and saves them too. You might want to switch completly or just use it to get you by in the mean time.

thanks, that looks promising.....also, is it possible for my neighbors to find out i'm using their wireless connection?

Yes it is very easy for them to find out. I wouldn't worry about it though, unless you were downloading music or something like that, in which case that is just wrong

You'll be fine with the lesbos, it's substantially harder for them to see what you are looking at, they would just know you are using it. Although it is technically possible for them to know.

However, since the network is unsecured anyways they probably don't know anything

that sucks.....i been doing it about a month, there's about 10 to 15 networks i can pick up, about half of those are unsecured....i figure by now someone would have been tipped off, but so far no one has secured their network....
