Scottish soccer exhibition game JULY 21st at FENWAY PARK
Two world-class Scottish soccer teams will play at Fenway Park this summer, sources told the Herald.
Glasgow rivals Rangers Football Club and the Celtic Football Club of the Scottish Premier League will compete in an exhibition game at the storied park on July 21.
The Boston Red Sox declined to comment. But team officials have scheduled a community meeting before tonight’s Texas Rangers game to give residents a head’s up on the plan.
Patrick B. Moscaritolo, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the economic impact of the game could reach $35 million.
“This is a huge event for Boston,” he said. “These are very well-known teams with European fans that travel just like the way Red Sox Nation shows up at Sox games throughout the United States.”
