Too much credit given to tiger's shot on 18
Tigers shot on 18 saturday at pebble beach vs phil's shot on 13.

Both are 2nd shots into a par 5. On PTI, BOTH of them said Tiger's shot was harder

    Not at all.

273 yds, behind trees, had to aim it over the ocean blah blah blah.

1st: His ball was only behind one tree and it didnt alter anything
2nd: Pros can shape the ball any way they want, but woods on the ground are 100x easier to hit good left to right than right to left.
3rd. What angle does he need to take? left to right
4th: If he was in the fairway 10 yards further left, would he have played the same shot? Yes most definitely, maybe with a little less cut.
5th: Where is the place to miss? in the right greenside bunker
6th: The water has no effect at all. Its a left to right shot, he either cuts it the right amount or slices it in the bunker.

    * If you were watching the announcers even said most people were missing short right in the greenside bunker. Tiger said he was hoping to leave it short, maybe run up or go in the greenside bunker.

    Phil's shot:

1st: Leading a major on the back 9, more pressure
2nd and most important: Hitting off pine straw. Feet could slip, easy to catch fat, could over compensate and blade, etc etc.
3rd: short is in the creek (fat, thing, feet slip)... long is over the green chipping back downhill which is super fast (long was not really a realistic thing to happen though). margin of error was 0.
4th: Phil's was only a 6iron while Tiger's was a 3wood: it would actually be easier to make clean contact with the ball with a 3 wood from that lie.
5th: tree was more of a factor in this shot although not really involved in either one.

both were great shots, but phils was much harder
