Fu(king guy almost killed himself today. He popped the clutch at the worst possible time and backed that Kia Soul right off the end of his deck.

I don't know how his company handles claims. If he owns his truck he will have cargo insurance that handles major damages like that, but for minor scrathes and dents most companies will send the bill to the driver and deduct the claim amount from your settlement.

a wrecker came and picked that fu(king thing right up and put it back on all fours. I think it may only cost maybe $1000 for a new back bumper. Nothing is cheap when you show up to a dealership with a dent / scratch. A 6 inch scratch will be $400 to fix.

Probably a bit more than that. Yes a bumper and paint will cost 1000 but a impact like that surely "shifted" some stuff. No airbag deployment? Frame damage? Surprised the radio didn't go through the rear windshield.

no broken windows or airbags came out. Most of the new cars, the airbags are turned off for that reason. They have a transportation mode so the doors don't lock and so forth. it's most likely gonna be a total loss and be sent to auction somewhere.

^ I figured that....a lot of shady shit goes on with these dealerships. Many years ago I brought a car to this reputable body shop (I bought it the car new). Although I was never in an accident with the car...the guy proceeds to tell/show me that the car has had severe body work to the front fender
I assume it was one of these type situations

A lot of cars get fu(ked up in transit. Weather it's a rock that kicks up from the road or just some azzhole throwing a soda can at the cars. Sheit happens.

now that I'm thinking about your right. When new cars have major damage they send them straight to the auction. The dealers have buyers at the auction and buy those cars and fix all the comestic stuff and resell as new. I have actually picked up new cars from the auction with maybe 10-20 miles on them and delivered them to dealerships. I have to log all miles on auction cars I pick up. You most likely bought one of those.

cosmetic damage ( like hail) is no big deal.
there should be disclosure on damage like this here.
