There needs to be a world hockey and soccer league

You could have 2 teams from usa, 2 from brazil, one in argentina, 2 in england, 1 in mexico etc


For hockey get rid of 3 or 4 teams in the usa and add a team in russia, germany, finland, sweden, etc

I don't know if it would work, don't know if there is enough of a market for it in other locations. Russia would not be a problem as far a market but don't think they would venture into an agreement like this when they do quite well on there own with the KHL.

If they were to attempt it would have to cut down the length of the regular season and as you mentioned in your post, would have to play multiple games while overseas; maybe 3 or 4 trips overseas each at 7 to 10 days where they play 4 games in each stretch. Still would only play 16 games over there even if you forced them to make 4 trips and play 4 games in a 7-10 span. I doubt any team let alone every team in the NHL would agree to this just based strictly on travel. Also if you only have 4 or 5 overseas clubs compared to 20+ NHL teams, the overseas clubs would have to make far more trips than just the 3 or 4 or make their stays far longer if they were doing only 3 or 4 trips per year.

not if you play 5 games in a row , teams fly from vancouver to tampa for one damn game, going to europe to play 5 games in a row then 2 or 3 days off wouldnt hurt anything.
If you want hockey or soccer to ever become popular in the usa then it must be done . And duh nhl would become the world hockeh league

so how do you convince the 30 some NHL owners to just give up their franchises? and what about the cities in the us/canada that don't get a "world league" team? what will they think about the 1 billion they just invested in taxes for their new arena?

For soccer I want a Champions League tournament, except with EVERY confederation involved. THAT is the highest level soccer you will see, NOT WORLD CUP.

They do have a very small tournament like this already, but with just 4 or 5 teams. I want to see ALL qualifying teams from every confederation involved.
