Anyone bet the Diamond Backs +1 1/2 at -105 last night strictly as what I would call a weather play? Not even taking into consideration that Burnett sucks and gives up alot of long balls in a long ball hitting stadium in Arizona.
I know, they have a cover and it's not like playing in the elements outside but 108 degrees in the desert for a team playing in cool weather so far this year like the Yankees have is brutal. My dad who's in shape compared to me just got back from Laughlin in that general vacinity and he said people on the junket were all getting heat stroke. One guy that was golfing didn't make the flight home because he was in the Bullhead City hospital with heat stroke.
Over the years I seem to do really well betting against teams abruptly going to play in a hot climate.I don't care if you are a fit world class athlete, that desert zaps you.We had a big marathon race called Grandma's in Duluth,Mn and a geezer croaked and the winning world class woman racer collapsed after the race and it was just humid and not hot.
