Or hormones or whatever. Whenever i workout real hard (bench, squat ect) and then eat a typical meal i wake up very sore the next day. Pretty much i feel like im done working out for 48 hours at least. But if i eat a mcdonalds value meal (same calories as regular meal) i wake up feeling like i could go out do it again right away. And im sure if i tried to measure performance it would be increased. Makes sense cause thats what the US olympic team eats after events
