Ghost posters are usually easy to catch, writing styles often give it away. Usually it's someone with a "beef" against a Book, often a first time poster. Then, because they're new, they desperately need someone else to agree with them. So they make up another handle, another newbie with few posts. At least you know the Ghost poster's intention; he wants to collect and is looking for public opinion to help him in this pursuit.
The Tout with plants is more devious; he's running a scam. Further, he uses popular people to support him (plants)--typically the most recognizeable posters on the forum. It legitimizes his scam. Either the plants get paid or they take turns supporting one another (next time someone else gets to be the one with the inside info). Obviously when you get a winner from them, they want a kickback. These are losers that can't win on their own, but have to resort to such tactics to make money to pay their losing habit. And the more lead-up, the better. For example, I got a sure a winner on Sunday, and I'll put it out Saturday night, so I can get down first. If it's that much of a lock, then why should a few points matter? Or put your bet in first and release it immediately. They don't because they have to sell the sizzle. If you lose on Saturday, you'll need that "sure" winner on Sunday.
Bottom line: BeantownJim has the cure for you. Anybody else sickened by this crap?
