    Texas holdem
I hope this site gets this going soon as i am an avid player.

Look for my blog in the next while as i am going to go through the basics of the game all the way to proffessional advise on advanced play. This will be a work in progress wnd i will look forward to any feedback ( good or bad) as long as it is constructive not just bashing. I have played the game for some time now and have done pretty good at it.
Blog to come in the near future.

Yes i agree that luck of the cards is a big part of the game but knowing the game itself and the betting stategies and the differences betwen online poker tournament poker and live poker is why you find the same people at the final tables!

          great point jj

and with rake/tips it is nearly impossible to be a winning poker player. most of the negreanu/matusow/hellmuth etc guys have gotten rich from endorsements (hard to lose when you get free $10k buyins) not poker.

here's some constructive criticism for you 1949:
if you want to look like you're giving "professional advice" then maybe it would help to spell those words correctly

For rake and Tips to turn you from a winning player into a losing player you have to be winning very little. Many people make livings and have made livings off of poker and everyone rakes nowadays.

Everyone tips (well most people) and everyone gets raked in the game. As long as it isn't a house game where only the house can win consistently because of a lot of rake and not enough money on the table then it can't effect you.

this sounds good but it just isn't true except for the big limit games that i assume most here can't afford. for example at a $2-4 game with a 10%/hand rake up to $6 the expected negative value per player per hour is almost $15!
even the best players in the best situations only win on average 2 bets/hour over the long run so YES the rake and tips turn you from a player that is WINNING $8 AN HOUR into a player that is LOSING $7 AN HOUR.
