Jesus it is all we hear about 24/7, you think the world was coming to and end. Especially the dam republicans that can do nothing but bitch about this and want to point fingers and blame Obama. First of all it is not even the biggest oil spill ever. There have been many larger spills. Secondly not that many people lost there lives unlike hurricane Katrina. Sure some wildlife will die, and beaches will be closed, people with businesses will lose some money. Our president has set up an escrow account so that the people who lose money get paid and the spill will eventually get cleaned up. Many more important things going on like our economy being in the shitter, 10% unemployment and our home values plummeting.

1. Any and all efforts to stop the oil from reach the coast (where you really can't remove oil from soil) have to be approve through the federal government. And then ideas and suggestions have there for weeks with no answer one way or the other. That's this current administration's fault.

2. Other countries have the technology that could speed up this clean up but are not allowed to because no one in the government has seen fit to place a hiatus on the Jones Act of 1920. That is this current administration's fault.

3. The Coast Guard has moved booms from one state to the other leavning some coastlines with inadequate protection. Plus the booms are not what is needed for the currents. They do well with below .7 knots. At least in AL, the waters in Perdido Bay can reach up to 4 knots at times.

4. Navy skimmer boats are not in the Gulf, helping to clean up the oil.

5, The Coast Guard ordered all oil sucking boats to halt in LA yesterday until they could search them to make sure they all have enough life jackets, fire exstinguishers, and that the boats were made in the US (see Jones Act)

6. A lot of the economy of these states depend on those oil wells. They employ people for the rigs, refineries, etc. The federal government's "slush fund" is a pile of hooey. Just wait and see who gets that money. It won't be the people who need it.

And there is a growing feeling down there that the reason the federal government (and by that I mean the executive branch) is deliberately screwing the people down here by not doing everything it can to stop this, is because LA, MS and AL were red states in the last election. It's all politics and power. That is all that matters to these people.

Call on supertankers from around the world to make a 1/2 mile line of defense at a time and suck off the top portion of the Gulf into the tankers. Go where needed and fix this mess.Been happening for years around the world.
Unfortunately, USA has a ban against the supertankers for the sake of the union and no one has the balls to lift it long enough to fix the problem.
Wonder if this happened in the Hampton's and up and down Mass. if their would be the same hesitation.
