im not a fan of rap so so take my words as a grain of salt but if your proclaiming a good day for rap all i can think of is how far the rap music scene has gone down hill throughout the years..... drake from the degraasi (dont know if you have this show in the states but it is essentialy saved by the bell meets the OC, its canadian cable show) and slim shady....cant take either of them seriouslyComment -
The reason people don't like rap music isthe rap because they don't really understand it. The old rap was a bunch of thugs (Pac, Biggie, etc) who really changed the rap game by rapping about true life. Nowadays it is all differerent and it is all great in it's own way. We are finally removing ourselves from the bubble gum type rap with catchy hooks to a form of the old rap. Right now I think it is like a happy medium right where it needs to be.
Sure Drake was on Degrassi but this isn't something he hides. He doesn't claim to have a rough like and be proud to make it out of the ghetto. He raps about the real stuff. Never will you hear him talk about killing someone and all that bullshit. He just has a very good flow and rhyme scheme. Anyone who doesn't know about Drake should check out tracks like "Ignorant Shit" or "Miss Me". It's all right there for you.
Eminem has to be taken in small doses. His rhyme scheme is unmatched by anyone ever. You have to understand the only reason he was able to pull off the Slm Shday crazy person shit is because he is white. He raps about all sorts of insane shit that we all know he doesn't do (killing bitches, etc) but you have to realize your not supposed to beleive it. You just have to respect the story he is telling and how he can do that for rap. This CD he dropped that stupid accent from last CD and it is much more real without the Slim Shady shit and you should check out "Love the Way You Lie" with Rihanna or "Wont Stop" with Pink. Both are good songs and Eminem shows his rap.
There are only a few rappers who everyone should be able to respect and listen to. Drake and Eminem are among those. Aside from those Fabolous, Kanye, and of course Jay Z are all enjoyable for anyone with a mild interest in rap.
Rap is simply about flow, metaphors, and wordplay and you have to be able to identify the message of that particular track. Some are bubblegum joints for the radio, others are fun Fantasy shit, some are just a constant show of rapping ability, and others they are trying to tell a story. Don't just write off rap. I love all music but to say rap is garbage is ignorant. Yes, most rap right now is in fact garbage but if you stick to like 10 guys who have it down right now you will come out with an enjoyment for rap.Comment -
