Got them here in New England. Sunoco usually offers it. Although not as abundant as once was. Maybe saving on employee expenses.

Insurance/actuaries figure you will hire a teen to work for minimum wage
Teens are notoriously irresponsible
Irresponsibility and a very flammable substance equals BIG CLAIMS
New Jersey on the other hand views drivers as being more irresponsible around gasoline

yeah that was my experience there. pulled up to an exxon and the attendant came up to my car to fill it up.
told the guy i could do it myself, he said the place was full service. i asked him if they had any self-service pumps and he said no.
i said all i want to do is pump my own gas. he told me to go somewhere else, we don't let you do that shit here

The Urban legend to this when self service station first appeared in the Mid-Atlantic they where located in suburban Philadelphia
A prominent NJ Legislators wife decide that she wanted to go shopping one day while her husband went about the business of governing the garden state
Trenton being the burned out ghetto that it was decided to
cross the scudders falls bridge and check out the new mall at oxford valley after a day of shopping she decided to drive back to Trenton and noticed she was out of gas and every gas station on rte 1 was now self serivce and she had no clue as to what to do and knowone at the gas station would help, needless to say she decided to drive back to Trenton and ran out of gas on I95 where the PA state police pulled over to help her and upon finding out who her husband was called the NJ state police who than came in a plain clothes car with a can of gas
The next day legislation was introduced banning self service in NJ
True...probably NOT but I have read this a few times over the years in the Philadelphia daily news when this subject comes up

I remember I was driving through jersey, I had just got done eating at a diner with jj, I hop on the turn pike, need gas, stop at the Sunoco, mother fukker comes sailing out waiving his mother fukking arms telling me to stop. Said he needed to pump my gas, fukk him, I told him to top it off, mother fukker didn't get a tip. Fukk him, I could have done it myself.

Well NJ has some of the lowest gas prices in the country, especially in the northeast. So full service is not more expensive than self-serve. However, just to clarify, full service is always more expensive than self service when dealing with a hooker.

They have these in the suburbs. At the gas station by my moms house they have full service, but they wont accept tips. Its kind of awkward but once u get used to it its awesome. I pull in there like a pit at a nascar race.....windows washed, gas, air in tires and pull away.

Don't know whether this is still the case or not; New Jersey and Oregon were the last two states where self-serve gas was not permitted.

Plenty in NYC but who the hell wants to pay a higher price just to have someone pump your gas and wash your windows. I use the self service savings on gas to feed my gambling addiction.
