Fair enough, Det had the best team as soon as he came to the team. Couldn't do shit with coaches before. I agree with your argument on Torre though, Phil though I have a tough time with. Maybe it isn't right but I don't see that guy doing anything with a team like Memphis or Minnesota.

of coarse not but no one could, players make teams (especially in NBA), great coaches help those players achieve there goals, Memphis though im not so sure about as they have some young talent and potential so maybe a bad example but i know what you are saying......

Hands down the greatest living coach is Scotty Bowman. Bowman won a record 9 Stanley Cups as Coach and 3 in a front offic capacity.

                              Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotty_Bowman.

If this doesn't impress you then nothing will.

Guy has 12 Stanley Cup rings. No one is close.

                                9 as a head coach.
No one will ever come close to putting up Bowman like numbers. The guy is in a class of his own between all pro sports combined.

Bobby Bowden has to be considered. Look at what FSU football was when he arrived. He made that into a premiere college team.
