I just don't get how anyone can respect a sport where the players dive, fully aware that they are being watched all over the world, where an instant replay will show they are faking. Sure, it happens in other sports, but every single player in soccer does it. I'm sure they are coached to do it. Just pathetic sportsmanship.
You must not watch the NBA?

I don't think you understand what a "poor man's" reference means. It doesn't mean you can't get rich, it just means it is available to the poor. Soccer is the cheapest sport to play, which is why so many play it all over the world. It's also why so many follow it, because it's accessible. That's what it means. To deny soccer is a poor man's sport is just idiotic, because it is.

No, I hate basketball. Same reason. Too many soft calls and the game in the hands of the officials. I hate soccer much more though.
The difference is very, very few NBA players will actually lay around like they were shot after getting fouled. Vince Carter is one of those players, but he is known among all fans for being a big bitch. Practically every soccer player is Vince Carter, but soccer fans live in denial, thinking it's just "part of the game". Pathetic.

To call soccer a "poor man's sport" would imply to many that it's a sport that poor people get into because there's no much else, and that if you have money and you play it, there's something wrong with you. That is, if you don't put a disclaimer to such a statement.

I wouldn't call the NBA foul calls soft overall. Their calls on limb contact are too soft, yes; body contact, no. You'd have to play basketball to know how much body-bumping, especially if from bigger players, affects your game. That shit should get called quite a bit more often.
In soccer, I don't watch it much, even when the WC seasons come. I've watched USA-ENG so far, and every instance of players shown wincing were justified with replays of what brought them down. Name some specific instances?

The U.S. would probably be quite good if men played it as much or more than the other three major sports.

soccer sucks! the only reason to watch to soccer is world cup because top players play in this and u can actually see some goals. the soccer leagues are the boring ones, thats the one will end up in draw. in world cup after group stages will be knock out rounds.. now here is where the real fun starts. still not as good as nfl but thats as good as soccer gets. so lets enjoy this world cup. we all know soccer is a boring sport.
