    How To Make Soccer Better.
    It's easy. 2 things.

    1. Instant replays on all fouls. Have a team of officials watching like they do with goals in hockey in Toronto. This will allow for instant review and decisions. Any one caught diving will be given a yellow card and opposing team given free kick.
    2. Any team whose player intentionally kicks the ball out of play in the defensive half of the field will be penalized. The penalty consists of giving the opposing team a corner kick.

Now finally there can be some goddamn momentum in this game.

lol yeah right , the one thing which is great about soccer is that there arent any breaks every 30 seconds like they are in baseball or football ,
instant replay for fouls is just a terrible idea , noboby wants to see soccer games which last 3 hours .

Yeah the instant replay idea is pretty bad, soccer would be horrible if it were slower.

..... seems to me from the uproar in the forums over the last few days - the easiest way to make soccer better - is to not let Americans watch it .... everyone else thinks its perfectly fine as it is thank-you-very-much

to have another 90 minutes of no scoring in a 0-0 game or 1-1 game? are you nuts? everyone would be dead from exhaustion

                  1. cut the field in half in length and width
                  2. make the goal twice as big
                  3. make the goalie wear a blindfold and a clown nose

these 3 changes would make soccer much much better

If I would change one thing for soccer is this. This may sound radical but can be used for preliminary rounds:

                      Win 3 points
                      Scoring Draw 1 point
                      Goalless Draw 0 points
                      Loss 0 points

This will force teams to at least score one goal if they want to be awarded points.

If the "great" thing about soccer is no breaks, that's a pretty fukking stupid reason to watch a sport. Most people watch for offense, or great plays, or contact, or something entertaining. You watch for... the lack of commercials. Hilarious.

Soccer is already way too slow. If there was a way to curb all the diving, it would speed the game up because we wouldn't be forced to watch a "professional athlete" lay around grabbing random parts of his body while peeking up to see if the referee noticed.

This is a picture of a soccer shoe worn at the WC. The studs (cleats) are metal. The only area protected with shin guards is the shin (front part of leg from above the ankle to below the knee. The knee, ankles, calves, thighs, hamstrings, ribs, back, chest, arms, shoulders, head are unprotected. When a player gets kicked with cleats there is no blood visible most of the times unless it is on the eyebrow or nose from a head butt (just like boxing and MMA). When a player gets hit with the metal cleats it feels like an instant sharp pain (I play soccer and experienced it). Most of the times it needs to be iced immediately and the pain goes away. Towards the end of games people usually get cramps from dehydration like any other sport.

If you think the cleats don't hurt I will pack my metal cleats this summer and when we meet in Vegas at the Bash I will take a couple kicks on your legs. Then you can make fun of soccer players when they get kicked.

P.S. Tim Howard has either broken or cracked ribs from the kick he took yesterday Vs England. And he is one mean dude to be faking it.

yeah soccer players dont wear all that armor that football players do.

Football without armor will be better

Just do away with American Football all-together and watch Rugby - its the only way forward ... cut out the stupid ad breaks and watch real men play sport instead.

This is the problem with soccer fans. You take a few examples in your favour and you make it seem like the norm. Every 10 times a player in soccer falls to the ground because of a "foul" I would say at least 5 times it's a dive. Maybe 2 or 3 times it's from actual contact. I just saw a free kick awarded to Australia because a player jumped over the back of a German player. The Australian then grabbed his ribs for no clear reason after getting up. He lay around for a good 8 seconds first, making sure the referee saw the show.

                                    3. Players cannot pass to their own fukking goalies.

That will make the game better, too. Especially when combined with my delay of game corner kick idea.
