You are 100% right. But I know this USA team well enough and I've spent time in the UK watching soccer. In my opinion the USA is one of the worse teams in the World Cup. I'll gladly bet against them and lose or win as gamblers do.

I think you're underestimating the US. Bookmakers have England too short in my opinion. There were no indications in recent friendly matches that they're gonna thrash the yanks. And I'm still not convinced by the 4-4-2 they're playing. The Americans have invaluable experience from last year's Confed Cup where their ultra-fit side flourished in the conditions. Remember the altitude will be 1500m above sea level. Certainly something you have to get used to as a European. Also the English players have a long season behind them with 50+ games played and no breaks whereas the MLS has just started.

I'm likely to preview the game in more detail in my thread tomorrow but I can tell you that if I should make a bet it will be on the USA with some sort of handicap.

England is priced short, your spot on regarding the tactics, Capello is still unsure how to get the best out of this side especially the world class players like Gerrard and Lampard, this could have an effect on the teams cohesion. The defense is starting to get worrying, I'm not so sure about King, its always a problem playing a guy with dodgy knees but he has lost a bit of that pace and has looked shaky when playing for the national team. If his fitness isn't at a high enough level he will have real problems as the US team has one of the best teams of physios and fitness trainers, I remember what an amazing job they did with the Turkish national team, they will be running the field for the full 90.

On paper the English midfield, especially Stevie G and Lampard should be able to dominate the center of the park but they rarely bring out the best in each other. Like the Man U team, the teams key danger man is Rooney and when he is in form stopping him is easier said than done. The key man for the US is Dempsey, he has to fulfill his tactical role if the attack is to work at its best and be a real threat, everybody is talking about Altidore but the system won't change or be that worse off without him. Infact if Buddle is given a chance he could be more effective and will be unknown to most of the England team.
