The thing that bothers me, by reading a few US blogs or articles on internet, is that a lot of them (but not all of them fortunately!) say they hate soccer and insinuate people who like soccer are stupid because to them soccer is a stupid game. Maybe they say that because most of the US people will agree with this but I don't really like this attitude of disdain toward soccer since it's the most popular sport in the world...
Regarding the tie system in soccer, I think it's good: a tie is worth 1 point only and a victory 3 points, that way it gives much more importance to the victory. If the game ends in a tie against a weak team, the tie can be viewed almost as a defeat since you gain only 1 point for the tie! But being not used to this system in US sports, I can understand that you don't appreciate this system
