You need to bend your knees and shake it in a circular motion (not using your hands) instead of up and down.

i've used the up and down routine, has worked fine for me, just gotta be careful no skin gets caught in the fly, that is extremely painful

use your hands, aim it down. i hate peeing with an erection, usually takes a while to start and flows weakly.
