Man that Phil Hendrie doing all those characters is funny.I didn't realize until the other day that he's back on the air.I don't get him anymore on my local station and am tempted to subscribe to his website where you can listen to his vast archives for $6.95 a month.Does anyone here subscribe to it?Can you get it well with dial up internet?I have never paid a penny for dial up internet for years and have never subscribed to anything either so I'm a real cheapskate when it comes to paying to hear someone but for a month it would be entertaining.
Hendrie seems like a real nutso in real life where he's moody and tempermental.Sometimes there are routines his caharacters could do and it sort of slips by him so even when his voice ability is good the scripts are a bit lame. For the most part though, the voices and skit writing is pretty good. The guy doesn't get as much national credit for his talent and ability as he should get.I like Frank Caliendo too but Hendrie is funnier.Hendrie does some pretty good sports characters and if he concentrated on that more his show would be funnier yet.
The funniest part of the show is when naive people call in all upset thinking that it's a real talk show where they want to chyme in on a controversial topic and they don't realize that Hendrie and his guests are the same person sucking them into making fools of themselves.I still can't figure out how he adds sound effects and changes over to different people so fast without slipping up.When is he going to run out of callers that don't know the show is a comedy bit and not real? And how does Hendrie hold back from not breaking up laughing when these callers go off on a tangent?I litterally roll around laughing so hard that I cry on occassion on some of the better more heated bits.
