Too many tracks running, not enough horses. When you see turf races with 5 and 6 starters, there is a problem. If it wasn't for slots, many tracks would shut their doors. Only thing keeping racing solvent.

sadly though it is true, go back 60 years and all anyone cared about was baseball, boxing, and horse racing. now it's football football and more football. all 5 of the dog tracks in wisconsin are now closed, the last one closed 12/31/09 quite sad that fun entertainment goes away and addictive UNFUN stuff like slot machines stays.
