Cabrera should share some blame for lost Perfect Game
if he stays home at the bag, Guillen fields that ball easily and throws Donald out by about 5 steps....

there was no need for him to go so far in the hole (more like halfway to 2nd) to make that play, and change the degree of difficulty on the play from a 4 on a scale of 1-10 to an 8.

also, its a shame that Joyce blew that call..... because Austin Jackson's catch on the first out totally got lost in all the controversy....... dude must have ran full out for 40-50 yards on that sucker....

I count the ball up in the air for just a shade under 5 seconds, so he prob ran 40 yards....

Chi, there was no other way around it. Even the way it went down it was a step and a half. He was out.

The only person that should ever take the blame for a bad call is the UMP , IMO

It's what they get paid to do.

i'm not faulting Cabera really, but if you look at the replay, there was really ZERO need for him to go get that ball.... and we wouldn't be here with our coulda, woulda, shouldas now.....

Jackson's catch would have been up there (but not quite as good) with Dewayne Wise's catch of Buhrle's perfect game

lets blame cabrera for a play that occurs very often in baseball, come on now.

I was thinking the same thing. But in that situation, if the ball gets through both 1st and 2nd basemen, then you look like royal jackasses.

Bottom line, he made the play and Galarraga was perfect last night.

saw the replay a few more times while at the gym...

just can't believe he was that far off the bag....

if I had a first basemen do that to me too many times as a pitcher, i'd be putting tiger balm in his jock before the game so he couldn't play

this is silly anyone blaming cabrera for that blown call needs to watch the video again, it wasn't even a bang-bang play.
