Umpires Are Having A Bad Year
What's the rule of thumb....if you don't notice an umpire during the course of a game then he's doing a good job?

In about a week's time..we've seen Cowboy Joe West let his ego get in the way of doing the right thing when he tossed Buerhle and Ozzie. Same with the UMP who lost sight of the fact that Houston fans actually bought tickets to Roy Oswalt and not him. And now this guy costing Gallaraga the perfect game. Amazing. If Jim Joyce can sleep well after blowing that call he's worse than I though.

These guys are living in a Fantasy world if they think they're bigger than the players or the fans.

Not that he will but Bud Selig needs to step in, sack up and have a serious sit down with the umpires union. Maybe it's time for some of these old guys to go.

The call to the end Gallaraga's no-hitter was beyond bad...and thanks to 24-hour a day sports channels, Joyce will be reminded of his brutal call from today to the end of his career.

That's truly a shame. The kid may not ever get another chance like that.

Galarraga is definitely a class act. MLB should right the wrong.

reminds me of Milt Pappas getting a walk called the hitter before he got a no hitter for the Cubs in 1972, would have been a perfect game.

This shit was ridiculous, I was watching it at my buddy's house and just sat there in shock. I mean if i was in Galarraga's position, I would have straight up punched him in the face. That shit was so ridiculous, I wanted to punch Joyce in the face through the t.v even though I could care less about the Tigers.

Don't expect Bud Selig to step in anytime soon. The guy who keeps ruining the classic game of baseball the longer he stays on as commissioner. The same moron who decided to end an all star game in a tie in 2002. I won't be surprised if he's behind the latest embarrassing fiasco by ordering a moratorium on perfect games/no hitters.

Gallaraga has a hell of a lot of class for not freaking out and acting childish about Joyce's botched call also for approaching Joyce and "playing" nice the day after. Secondly, Gallaraga knows that his stuff was "ON" and even though rare, he has the potential to repeat the task.

After all of that, it does not excuse the fact that these umpires are screwing up calls that either change the outcome of a game or cause them to receive plenty of media attention.

Gallaraga has been nothing but class throughout the whole ordeal. He brought the lineup card to home plate today and handed it to Joyce who was in tears.

The Tigers and a local car dealer gave Gallarage a new corvette for his troubles. Class all the way around except for Selig. The commish remains out of touch.
