I think if he can stay away from walks he might have a chance. Sometimes he tries to get too fine and ends up losing hitters. How did Gooden get 1.53 in 85? Were the mound higher then?

The person in 2nd when Pedro posted his 1.74 was Clemens with at 3.70.
Goodens ERA+ (a comparison of ERA that year) was 229 (10th), Pedros was 291, the best is history since 1900 ( only Tim Keefe in 1880 posted a better) - gibson was 268 and ranks 6th.Comment -

Yeah, I agree. Though, he'll still probably win the Cy Young this year. This whole decade in the NL has been dominated by the pitching of the Western division.gonna be nearly impossible now to break the record.
