incredibly dumb to not buy in the maximum amount so you can extract maximum value per hand. So at 1-2 that would be 200 at most places. Just depends on how much you want to play. But if your planning to play at least one session per day youll need 1,000 for 5 days. For 2/4 $400 buy in most likely.

He's talking about limit.. Learn how to fold hands like AJ and medium/small pairs when it's raised to you and you'll be ahead of the game..

To play $2-4 limit I'd suggest starting with a $1200 dollar roll. That's probably conservative but you will be prepared for bad streaks that are bound to come. That's my recommendation, others will tell you differently.

just do 500-2000 times the big blind, and that should be your bank roll for that limit. For No-Limit I suggest staying to 2000, but with limit you can wiggle it down to 500x

I usually take about 25 big bets into the room with me. If you lose 25 big bets in a session it's probably time to take a break. So if you are playing 1/2 limit I would take in 50 bucks.

Over a long period of time I would recommend a minimum 500 big bets to cover the inherent variance of the game... so to be playing 1/2 limit you should have a min of $1,000.

These are just general guidelines. There are lots of good articles on bankroll management written by Chris "Jesus" Furguson out there that you should check out. Poor bankroll management is a sure fire way to fukk yourself.

Limit is soul crushing but don't be worried about "double up or nothing" You should concerned with playing good. As long as their as donks at the table go as long as you can. Eat well, get sleep, don't drink and you can play 2 hours or 10 depending. You will never win everyday but I'm not the person to ask about bankroll requirements for limit.

As for no limit you want at least 40X the max buy in for a table b/c it can be swingy. I would guess with limit it less. If you do want to do double or nothing assuming your bankroll sucks, then play tight, raises strong hands, set mine, and limp speculative hands (7 8 clubs etc) in position but don't go crazy with raises and re raises in front of you.

play super tight if you are in the 1st 33% to act. Last person or 2 before the blinds play pretty lose. You will be amazed at how you can just use your position in limit games (any poker really) for a profit.

Live rake + Tips makes it impossible to beat under 5-10 limit games. If you want to play them for fun or whatever it doesn't really matter how many big bets you have in your bankroll because it's not a bankroll but a budget. You will lose over the long run period. Even if you manage to beat the rake you're not going to be making much more money then some retail clerks at a minimum limit game of 5-10.

Besides having enough BB to cover the max capped pots based on the rules at the casino your playing at there is no difference between a 50 BB stack or a 1000 BB stack at limit.

That being said if you're serious the heuristic is 300 Big Bets in a bankroll. So 5-10 would have $3000 minimum bankroll requirement to play. That is assuming of course that you're a winning player. If you're playing for a living that is woefully under rolled. If you actually beat the game for a decent clip then 300 big bets may be sufficient if you're lucky enough to overcome the inherent variance in the game. It's all based on your win rate/std deviation/comfort level. And don't even talk about win rates until your sample size reaches around 300 live hours played.

If you're serious about learning to become a winning player I've already given you the blueprint in another thread i think. It's not easy at all for the majority of people. I can't find the thread so I'll just list it here anyway.
