Interesting puzzle. I got the RGB hint, but when I tried to convert the decimal to hex, then the hex to rgb, it didn't seem to work because the RGB code only took numbers from 0 to 255. Perhaps I was doing the conversion wrong, but regardless I gave up when the numbers didn't seem to make sense and a RGB conversion required 3 numbers (1 number for R,G,B that ranged from 0 to 255).

When I tried plugging in the numbers into my photoshop RGB conversion palette, some numbers don't make sense as well.

I think the commas may have thrown you off. The entire number was a hex code of the type used in web pages.

I am pretty dense, and still not seeing it -

While this is really trivial, just how do you convert the hex code to a RGB text color for the uninitiated?

Web colors use a six digit code where each two characters (RRGGBB) represent one of the colors in hex. For example, 16,777,215 is FFFFFF and 255 R 255 B 255 G.

Sorry diglet I am convinced that I am a total moron now.

16 = FF? (v 10), 777 = FF? (v. 309), 215 = FF? (v. D7)

I still thought RGB values were limited to 0-255 decimal. or 0-ff hex.

Otherwise the numbers in the puzzle had to be manipulated somehow to conform with the RGB standards, which I can understand. 16,777,215 = 167,77,215......

Sorry, it's the commas again. 16777215 is a single number that converts to FFFFFF in hex. Google has a handy calculator.

FF is the maximum value for the individual components and converts to 255.

So you had to go decimal - hex - decimal (RGB)

Just didn't follow through to the last step and separate and interpret the hex values.
I'm just not lateral enough or getting senile with old age.

14553112 = DE1018

Hence, the 'R' or red hex value is 'DE', the 'G' or green hex value is '10', and the 'B" or blue hex value is '18'.

We can use this hex value in vBulletin's [COLOR] tag as follows:

[COLOR=#DE1018]This is rgb color DE1018[/COLOR].
