Ex-NBA star Antoine Walker files for bankruptcy

Antoine Walker, the former NBA all-star and Chicago native who reportedly earned $110 million during a 13-year career, has filed for bankruptcy, court records show.
The May 18 filing in Miami for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection is the latest development in a financial free fall that has resulted in Walker owing nearly $1 million in bad gambling debts and another $1 million to the City of Chicago in fines for several troubled buildings owned by his real estate company, Walker Ventures LLC.
Walker, 33 -- a product of Mount Carmel High School who starred for the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks -- owes more than $2 million to various creditors, court records show.

Among his listed assets are a $54,000 silver 2008 Range Rover and his 2006 Miami Heat championship ring, valued at $6,000.
Walker could not be reached for comment Friday. In response to a Tribune investigation into his Chicago properties in November, Walker apologized to his tenants, blaming his various problems on the bad economy and "a lot of financial mistakes throughout my career."
Walker avoided trial in Nevada on felony criminal charges by agreeing to repay the $900,000 he owed to three Las Vegas casinos, according to the Associated Press.

he should of just declared bankruptcy like i did and not file. same difference and you save on attorney fees and trips to the federal courthouse. sounds crazy but it really worked for me. thin line between declaring and actually going through the nonsense of actually filing and paying a phony baloney attorney and filing fees.
