Personality wise Daniel has always been one of my favorite players. I will admit sometimes some of the things is says to Mike the Mouth are harsh but it's just guys bustin guys balls.
The last couple of days though I have had to spend alot of time in the office doing paperwork and have had Justin TV on and really been paying attention to the way Negreanu plays. I've seen him play hundreds of times but for whatever reasons I guess I wasn't really paying close attention cause I just assumed he played very good and had amazing read skills. Maybe in tournament play this has been the case but watching his play over the last couple of seasons in the High Stakes cash games he's more stubburn than good. Sure he took some horrible beats after flopping golden but when you evaluate what the hands were prior to the flop he put himself at risk when he could have easily waited for better spots.
I'm not picking on Negreanu by any means. He has won more at poker than I probably ever will. He's also not alone either. I think many players, pro's and amateurs alike often think the situations incorrectly. Most players tend to think what hands they can beat rather than what hands can beat me. Now when the deck is running you over and you are running good it is reasonable to assume you have the best of most situations and therefore you are proned to look only at which hands you can beat. However when you are running bad and every deck the dealers puts into play seems like it was made in Syberia you have to look at the flipside and really invision all the hands that can beat you.
