I've heard that of all the sports, the books and Vegas take a hit with baseball b/c favorites tend to come through more times than not. However, I find that hard to believe considering the juice on some of these games and not to mention baseball requires extreme patience (which most bettors don't have), a sufficient bankroll (which most bettors don't have), and a grind it out style (which most bettors don't have). So are the books losing money or making money with bases...i know in football, all the squares will be playing so they'll make a fortune...but does anyone know about baseball?

#3Limits are too small in Vegas for them to get hurt. I do think they have the lowest hold out of any sport they book.

#4You know there are not many pros still laying 20 cent juice in Vegas. You could even make an arguement that there is no such thing as a pro that is playing 20 cent bases.
Thats the long way of saying the Vegas sportsbooks have no problems with baseball except for the low volume.Comment -

#5Baseball is the best sport for the knowledgable player and I think books dislike them the most but they have years where they win and tears when they lose. Their goal is to break even those they can haul in the winnings from football. I was in Vegas during the summer several years back and would not even play at the sportsbooks I went to my laptop to play the bases. Vegas baseball lines suck, actually all their sportsbook lines suck.Comment -

#6The baseball bettor usually is more sophisticated and books usually weary of them as your square mainly does not bet baseball.Comment -

#7I'd guess that some players are taking advatage of having high speed internet in the hotel rooms. The book would probably make sure it was a temporary advanatage if they see a guy running to and from the elevator in between bets. :icon_mrgrComment -

#8not neccessally true JJ, most players just bet the money lines and, not the run lines. for these players it's either win or loss without having to worry about there team winning buy runs, point, ect, ect.Originally posted by jjgoldThe baseball bettor usually is more sophisticated and books usually weary of them as your square mainly does not bet baseball.Comment -

#10I normally do the same when I'm out in Vegas. There are a couple of books with reduced juice in bases. The Barbary Coast has had reduced vig for a long time. I think that the Palms does too.I was in Vegas during the summer several years back and would not even play at the sportsbooks I went to my laptop to play the bases. Vegas baseball lines suck, actually all their sportsbook lines suck.
As far as football and basketball you can still find some nice lines. Lines fly right before kickoff and tipoff many times.
I like to watch the games at the IP when I'm in Vegas. I couldn't believe the line movement during the NCAA tourney.Comment -

#12It definately has a different clientelle than football does.
Baseball fans and people who would bet on it are a bit more sophisticated and wise, IMO. Where on the other hand a majority of your football bettors are the "dudebro" crowd who probably bets on the sport simply on the basis that they are betting on their favorite team, betting against a team they hate, or whatever team has the most "name" players. Football has more casual fans and baseball more hardcore fans.Comment -

what is it u like to suck at Vegas books?
please, a vegas book is heaven on earth.
just how much were u wagering on a game? that a .04 cent line difference mattered? u know u could just cash ur winnning ticket within 3 minutes after game final.
on ur winning vegas online baseball summer how much u pay for a wire transfer. check or person to person ? i know i know u got 2 free withdrawals a month due to highroller baseball bettor.
what did u do wager online then go watch the 50ft x 50ft screen with the yankees? selfish hog. or watch it on ur 17in laptop on ur hotel bed? u got one of those special laps that can watch all mlb games? at one time?
and your wrong nba is the easiest game to cap. hell spurs covered like 15 x in a row.
take a retard to miss it.Comment
