Can't figured out what I want to do with my life.
So I've been browsing this forum and looked at some threads(one in-particular) that make me ask my self "what the **** are you gonna do with you life". I'm turning 19 in a few months and really need to make a design soon. I have a 2nd shift job from 5pm - 2am making about 13/hr and still in the process of getting a drivers license(been dragging it along to much). I got a GED and looking to go to a community college and if I do good I might try to get a transfer to better school.

    Careers I'm interested in:
    Financial Adviser
Car Mechanic (I have a love for cars)
    Accountant
    Computer Technician

I always wanted to step into the cooperate world and have envyed the people walking around NYC with there fancy suits and such but I just don't have the communication skills to follow that career.

I'm personality of an "ISTJ" if that helps.

    ALL ADVICE IS APPRECIATED.

You've come to the right place..... I can think of no better place to get advice from what to do with your life than here...

    for starters....

you need to get your post count here up.... with a high post count, that means you've read alot of threads, and that will mean that you've gleaned alot of valuable information from many brilliant posters here...

secondly.... you need to really work at getting your point total up, posters that become obsessed with betting, earning, begging for, and getting loans, tend to report a very high quality of life.

thirdly.... go to SBR.tv and watch all of JJgold's videos.... this guy has life figured out, and is very happy deep down inside (take notes as you watch the videos)

4th....are you drinking right now? if not, go get some booze right this min.... the brilliance of this board is only enhanced by a nice buzz at least.... if you ARE drinking..... DRINK MORE

5th... masturbation..... thinking about one's future can bring on stress and anxiety.... you need to relieve this immediately... I recommend visiting one of Dad's threads with hot women posted in them...

that should be enough to get you headed in the right direction for one day...

    good luck

Don't get into the corporate world. I thought that was the way for me, but learned very quickly that it was not. Get your Drivers License first. Then figure out what you want to do regarding school. Without a degree you will not go very far. Financial advisor is a shit job imo....Unless you have a ton of friends and family that will use you, you will not make any money doing that. Plus, what 80 year old guy is gonna trust a 20 year old with his retirement fund? Not happening....If you love cars go for it in being a mechanic. Obviously, won't make a ton of money but if you are good enough maybe one day open up your own shop. You are only 19 and believe me I had no clue wtf I was gonna do then either. Take your time to figure out what is best for you, dont rush things or you might end up unhappy. GL in the future VTranx!

I would start by learning how to spell the careers I had interest in, it really helps on the resume

I don't know what the personality example means.

You enjoy working with your hands and love cars. Mechanic wouldn't be a bad route to take.

Accountant and financial adviser would require the communication skills you say are lacking.

Many are stuck doing something they don't enjoy. Don't fall into that trap.

All Im saying is you'll never get a job in the corporate world when you spell it cooperate. Not only badly misspelled, but a different word with a different meaning altogether.

Man.., i'm 30 years old.., and the best advice that i can give you right now is, take it slowly.

It seems to me that you are on a great path for a 19 year old..., it seems you have been learning different things..., and that will give you a lot of knowledge in many topics.., and i also asume you worked in some of those things you studied.. So, you are getting to know different ambirementes.., people.., etc. It sounds good.

Now, try to take one step at the time.., make the best you can in everything you do.., and always follow your instints... some times you need a plan, sometines its better to play by hear....

Another great thing i saw is that you are following things that you like, and i my personal opinion, when you do something that you really love, the success is inevitable...

You are doing good..., keep us posted...

You will never get a job if there is a spelling error on your resume. Remember that the human resources department is reviewing hundreds of resumes before you get the call for an interview.

of course I will always triple check spelling If i give an employer a resume. this is not a resume, its me asking for advice from this community. With the fact I'm typing all this on my phone, one mistake isn't bad.

I went to a four year college and earned a degree by age 22. I struggled to find good paying employment into my 30's. Eventually I landed a job with a company that hired only college grads and settled into a field I knew nothing about. I worked hard and earned o.k. $ for many years. After a layoff I switched to a different industry and am earning more $ than ever before. I never used my degree per say other than to get my foot in the door at that one company. An education can help but is no guarantee of anything. Hard work and people skills are just if not more valuable.
At 19 I wanted to be a horse racing trainer. My lack of Spanish skills buried that quickly. If you enjoy cars that would be my suggestion as to the best path for now. In the back of your mind keep an eye out for growth industries as it tends to be an easier road to travel. G.L.

you have your whole life ahead of you and endless possibilities.... dare to dream big, but be okay with taking somthing menial for the time being... don't be afraid to move around the world and take chances, most great/succesful people have plenty of "failures" in their history.... there is nothing wrong with taking chances.....

see the lake of "direction" in life, at this point as a good thing.... you can create your own destiny

Go to college for sure and take your time man. Dont try and rush through it. I keep telling myself that . Because I wanna get into the field and just have a full time job but I have to keep telling myself to take it slow.

You will find out what your calling is eventually

I've enjoyed myself, paco. But I do have some regrets. I've treated people badly that I should have treated better is the main thing, everything else like money is small shit. What you did for your fellow man is the only thing you leave behind in this world

if you really think you can wake up everyday and work on cars like my little brother does.. then go for it man.. he is going to school and he loves it.. he has been working on cars since he was 10 years old (yeah 10 years old.. and racing bikes at 10 as well) and loves it.. his goal is to end up going to a BMW or Benzo or some other high end program after school so he can work for a dealership.. put in two years at a BMW dealership as a certified mechanic BMW specialist and you will be bringing down 100k easy..

Accountant is pretty boring TBH so you have love all things financial. If you don't your ****ed. There is diversity in the work if you go corporate/self employed but if you go CA (CPA in states) working for big 4 you'll do menial grunt ass kissing work for about 10-15 years and then go golf with clients while your grunts do the same while raking good salary after making partner. Can audit but it's a bitch at times dealing with clients who cover asses at all costs. Don't work for GVT agencies period.

Financial Advisor is basically sales and if you don't have communications skills to tell your clients your flipping a coin nicely while taking fees you'll fail big time. Fee only planner can be tolerable if you make it but it seems like a dreary lifestyle solo unless you get into wealth management boutique firm. Need CFP at minimum and but most likely CFA as it is more useful.

Computer technician meh. Deal with bunch of retardos who know nothing/little about technology and answer same dumb questions over and over. Plus once word gets out to friends/acquaintances/relatives you'll be stuck as the "tech guy" so you'll be bringing home your work. Not very challenging IMO>

Car Mechanic is about the only thing you seem enthusiastic about. Do that and get specialized. It seems challenging and technical despite grease monkey societal stereotype.

Wearing a suit is overrated. You'd be surprised how ****ed up corporate world can be at times. Work in marketing if you like coke up your nose 24/7.
