    Handicapping Software?
For those of you who handicap games using power ratings and formulas, is there any special software that you use or is Excel a good option? I've found a couple websites that sell programs for handicapping, I just don't know if they're legit or worth the money. Right now, I'm just using Excel and I was wondering if there was something better or easier that I'm missing out on because I don't know about it. Any help would be appreciated.

pds is ok and has been around like another one called mico brothers. They break down games good and give picks and you can try different scernarios and have your own custome way of computer deriving picks.

Sure Bet out of Boston area and also is ok and also has been around for a long time. I think sure bet is better for hockey and dog racing.

I still think all the stuff you need is on sites like EOG, Covers, Statfox as all the same data but maybe a program formats it better.

I still like Dos programs better for some odd reason and I think surebet is DOS

Although I do not know if surebet is still around

            Esb Loses Power????

I checked the telebet (esb) web site these clowns say theve lost power because of some storm and that theyd be back up by weeks end. I wonder what storm was that last I checked Jamaica is just fine/ None of the other books in Jamaica are with out power. Oh wait I forgot I guess if you pay your bills the way you pay your customers thats what happens, they turn off you FREAKIN POWER!!!!

Happy Boy, for future reference, posts like this would be better off in their own thread ... this one is off-topic in a thread about handicapping software. Thanks.

Anybody else use handicapping software or have any opinions on any of them? I do my own power ratings with Excel, but I'm looking for something that's a little more user friendly and allows me to calculate more variables. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of products out there, but they are all pretty much black boxes. Learn Excel. It can do about anything you want it to do crunching numbers. If you want to get into generating your own past performances learn Access and you can take what you learned from Excel with you.

I think Bookie said it best

All you have to do is get a plan of what stats you want to track and have a guy write you a excel program for about $70 bucks and your on your way

One real common knock on capping software is that it can not calculate a trend. So if the Cowboys cover the 1st 3 games by an avg margin of 13 the software will likely give you the other team because there is usually some line value going against a hot team. You have to be careful or you could be the 4th team killed by 13 points.

                          Statfox

I just started handicapping ncaa baskets and subscribed to statfox to obtain their situational analysis.

As to the sides they usually post the situations the evening before which allows a person to handicap and then use that with the overnight lines. But they are very deficient in there putting out the situations on the totals.

It is almost inconceivable for what they charge that they cant get in early enough in the morning on Sat and Sun to key in the lines for the totals and produce a report.

Yesterday they missed the first 20 games before they put out the situations and today its 12:30 pm eastern time...totals have been up for about 2 hours now...and no report.

Does anyone know of any alternatives to Statfox. I assume they have a database of situations....and key in the lines..and then produce a report....

                          Help would be appreciated.

                          Thanks

                          Rick

I've asked you this before, but you've never responded. Do you feel that it is irresponsible for the admin of SBR to be giving such blatantly wrong and terrible advice?
