    Biggest oil spill in history
Some scientists estimates are equivalent to one Exxon Valdez oil spill every seven days. This was an experimental well, the deepest well ever drilled to date. So far BP has spent around five hundred million dollars on cleanup.

In the first three months of this year BP made around six billion dollars in profit. Shocking revelations have just come to light. Everyone should watch the 60 minutes interview with one of the last survivors of the rig. Seems like they were just cutting corners. I would bet this ends up being the biggest oil spill in history.

Basically everything they try to do to shut it off is experimental. Never been tested before. As an engineer I can tell you what is going on in these meetings. Someone comes up with the idea. Then the boss says lets try it. Then when it doesn't work they come up with an another idea until it works or all the oil is drained in the ocean, whatever happens first.

Most people think like this. But it will be our problem soon enough when this hits the economy.

Just found a article saying they are using a disperesant banned in the U.K a decade ago...

"As we’ve reported, Corexit was also used after the Exxon Valdez disaster [8] and was later linked with human health problems including respiratory, nervous system, liver, kidney and blood disorders. One of the two Corexit products also contains a compound that, in high doses, is associated with headaches, vomiting and reproductive problems [9]."

Apparently, the EPA has done some testing and said that Corexit has killed up to 25 percent of organisms living 500 feet down where the dispersant was used.

Ok let me tell you a few things. Usually before something is done in a real life situation there is ton of research done behind the scenes at independent labs or universities. When you go to Home Depot and you buy a hook bolt to hang on your garage to store your bike someone has tested that bolt in the lab 1000 times to make sure it doesn't break before you use it in your house. Since no one has ever had an explosion at an oil well in 5000 ft depth before where the hydrostatic pressure is several atmospheres greater than surface water no one knows what works and what doesn't. The submarines that they have down there probably have glass which is 12-24 inches thick so it won't break from the pressure. So there has to be a special pipe made from strong material that can withstand the pressure and the freezing temperature. Then you have to have special welding machines that have to be able to weld underwater at these pressures and temperatures. And on top of that everything they try is done with remote control commands to the robotic submarines they have down there. You get a pipe in your house burst and you call the plumber. Well you can't call the plumber at 5000 ft below in deep water!! It's also pitch black down there.

they could have sealed this leak permanently the following day after it was discovered.

All they have been doing now is trying to figure out a way to control the leak and still pump it. GREED.

Obama whiffed big time on this one, had a chance to step in and control the situation but chose to let BP handle it.

Don't think a appology is necessary since the independence well isn't over 35,000 ft.

I am just waiting for school to get out and vacation season to start and fuel costs to rise to $6.00 per gallon......the oil companies will have to make changes in there saftey operations and they are not about to pay for it out of the enormous profits that are currently made......6 billion in 3 months = 24 billion in profits a year prooving fuel is too over priced.......
