#38I went back Mexico 1986 checking stats, since then the only time the hosts didn't went at least in the quarters was USA 1994. Every other year the minimum is quarters. As hosts here i mean every African country, cause South Africa are not one of the continents power-horses.Comment -

#41Don't bet on the World Cup unless you absolutely hate soccer and would never ever feel a shred of emotion watching these games.
Not worth it to ruin the greatest sporting event in the world just because you have a little action.
Even if I was North Korean and facing Brazil, I would not have the heart to bet Brazil even at +100 cause it's just not cool to root against your home country. Maybe it's different for some of you, I don't know.Comment -

#44Bet wisely on the World Cup. The lines are sharp but not unbeatable if you know what you are doing. Many people have made fortunes betting the World Cup. Don't study the odds because there is limited line movement. Study the starting line ups and be able to understand what each coach's game plan is in each game. When you master this then picking the right play is easy.Comment -

#47Hello
Being a long time reader, but first time posting here. Just wanted to share a couple of things here, being a great soccer fan.
First, there's no such thing as a lock in soccer (like an any other sport), but if you want an 85% or 90% chance of winning at something right now on the WC futures, there are 2 choices IMO.
1- Argentina to win its group. They probably don't have the best coach (understatement of the year), however they do have, if not the best, one of the best teams out there right now. Their group, Nigeria, Greece and South Korea is no match to what Argentina is capable of doing, my prediction, they will beat all of them easily and go through the next round, now, from there on it is a different story, since they will face stronger teams and the lack of management from the bench will be lethal for them.
2- Spain to win their group. Much like Argentina, Chile, Honduras and Switzerland are no match to the way Spain is playing right now. They qualified undefeated and they do have a great coach commanding them. They are actually favorite to win the Cup, so winning the group and going through the next round will be no contest.
Also, I believe the top goalscorer will come out of these 2 teams, We have Villa in Spain and Messi and Higuain on the other, which have pretty good chances of winning that trophy.
All other groups seem like only have one favorite, but I think only these 2 have the best chances to do it.Comment -

100% agree with the top goalscorer... I think Villa is the best candidate for me.Comment -

#51Originally posted by DarkNiteIf to predict the WC winner, I would say the team from South America due to the same climate. In South Africa, the weather will be extremely hot.
Too early to predict a winner. I have taken a position on Betfair in the Outright Winner market, though, having backed who I believe the likely group winners are, or will at least get out of the group stage, plus S. Africa. I plan to trade out as the tournament goes on and hopefully make myself a nice green book so I can relax watching the later stages knowing that no matter who wins, I will make $$$ :-)
