#36No, actually. East Tennessee & SW VA was not a big battle area. Alot of skirmishes, but no real battles. E.TN actually didnt want to secede from the union when TN did, so it was full of union sympathizers. But my great great grandfather fought for the Confederacy.Comment -

#39Here in E.TN the history is mainly pre-civil war, mainly around the revolution. Just a few miles from me is where the overmountain men mustered before going to Kings Mountain & changing the course of the war. Also in Johnson City is where the Watauga Association was formed. If you're a history buff you know what that was. Andrew Johnson, Andrew Jackson, Daniel Boone & Davy Crockett is the BIG history here.Comment -

#49fukkin cool. Been to the confederacy museum in New Orleans a couple of times. in the New Orleans Confederate Civil War Museum there is a crown of thorns, weaved for Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy, by Blessed Pope Pius IX. At the behest of an Irish priest, who had befriended Davis and who often visited him during his two-year imprisonment after the war, the Pope sent the veteran general and statesman this sign of compassion.Pius was himself a “prison of the Vatican” after the fall of the Papal States under the forces of the freemason Garibaldi. The thorns in this crown are two inches long. As a token of respect to the beleaguered pontiff, the city of Macon, Georgia, named a street in his honor. They even put it in Italian: Pio Nono Avenue.Comment -

#57Fulmer had a downswing, around here you're not allowed to do that. Man has a record better than 95% of head coaches. They rioted in Knoxville when Kiffin left, burned shit, sprayed graffiti sayin fuk kiffin on everything. He is a hated man here. These people take their UT football SERIOUS! Its not to be joked about, its a religion. Dooley is the new coach. His dad is a legend in Georgia, so he knows the seriousness of SEC football. He was with Saban as a recruiter & assistant for years. I like him & the kids like him. Fuk KiffinComment -

#59always though it was ironic that UT won it all AFTER Manning left. that 98 team got every break go their way, still remember the Arkansas game that year like it was yesterday, the QB Stoerner i believe, put the ball down and UT scores a TD to cover late.Originally posted by THE PROFITSEC is super competitive and your not gonna win a conference cship every fukin year. By Smokey's Trail
(KNOXVILLE, TENN.) -- -- The Arkansas Razorbacks gave Tennessee a fit in the first half. Their offense made the big plays and Tennessee turned the ball over twice. Tennessee had several mis-tackles and made some mental mistakes that cost them dearly.
Tennessee came back with a big touchdown, being behind 21-10 at the half. Tennessee stops Arkansas in the first possession , in the second half, and then Tennessee fumbles the ball for the third turnover.
Tennesee's Travis Henry scored the winning touchdown with 28 seconds left.
Arkansas kicks a FieldGoal to make it 24-10, and then Tennessee has a fantastic drive with running back Travis Henry and Tee Martin rolls out for a touchdown to make the score 24-17 in the third quarter. Tennessee makes another drive and was stopped inside the 10 yard line and Jeff Hall kicks a fieldgoal to make the score 24-20. In the 4th quarter, Al Wilson sacks the quarterback, Clint Stoerner, for a big loss.
Arkansas tries a 37-yard field goal and it was blocked by Deon Grant, and Al Wilson picks it up and returns it 50 yards to the Razorbacks 36, with 6 1/2 minutes left. Arkansas stops Tennessee and David Leaverton punts to their 1-yard line.
Stoerners crucial fumble cost the Hogs the win and their unbeaten record.
The Hogs drove to their 41 before stalling. The punt snap sailed over Chris Akin's head, and instead of trying to pick it up he booted it through his own end zone for a safety that made it 24-22 with 2:56 left. Tennessee returned the free kick to its 49, but gained only a yard in four plays, giving the ball back. But Stoerner, as he was rolling away from the line, stumbled and tried to brace his fall by placing the football on the ground.
The ball came loose and was recovered by defensive tackle Billy Ratliff on the Arkansas 43 with 1:43 left. Travis Henry couldn't be denied as he ran five straight times and scored from the 1 to stun the Razorbacks with one of the biggest victories in school history.

#64I cant understand why Fulmer is not coaching. He has said he wanted to. I know I have problems also with some of his coaching style, but I think these couple years away has helped him. He has visited alot of programs & got his head straight. He just thought there's no way he would get fired here. He had been with UT since he played thereComment -
