Yesterday Jim McDermott held a hearing on repealing the UIGEA and the architect of the bill....a republican from Virginia named Bob Goodlatte started chirping about the recent suicide of a constiuent of his who was "big in the internet gaming world".
Goodlatte used the suicide as a way of explaining why internet gaming should be illegal in the US, and continued his right wing rhetoric on the evils of internet gaming.
In a really odd twist of irony----Goodlatte has also said that he does not support any type of regulation on deriviative trading.
So----in Goodlatte's mind----it isn't moral for you and I to bet a 2 team parlay for 25 bucks in the fall on NFL games---but for a trader on Wall Street betting on the housing collapse of hard working americans----well, there isn't really anything wrong with that.
