#3(not american) but what I Know of the subject is, you are taxed on all your income in the states. Here in Ireland, you are not. Now, lets say you won 100k, if you withdraw the cash in small installments, say $500 - $1000 at a time over the space of a year or two, then you should not have a problem. I would say the bigger the amounts, the more you will be noticed.
Even with small amounts, you may be noticed because if your bank is on the ball, that may notice that your account has had a net of 100K over the space of 1 to 2 years.
PLEASE do not take what I say as fact, I'm merely making a guess from the knowledge that I gained from working as a bookies CS.Comment -

#14The same could be said about England to be honest, but i'm lucky that I live in the countryside so its ok for me - one thing I hate is EVERYTHING related to city-life.Comment -

#15Agreed. Live in what you call the suburbs myself. Lived in the city for 6 months with a girlfriend once. Hated living directly in the city and in the end hated the girlfriend lol. Have you lived in the countryside all your life? TBH, I wouldn't like to live in the city myself but having lived so close to the city all my life, I couldn't stand living in the countryside.
Whenever I was there, I honestly felt claustrophobic! Typical Irish, we're never happy.Comment -

#16I spent about 6 months in Sheffield when I was a youngster (16) but hated it with a passion, though I guess I was probably too young to really get what was going on with life at that point - I think if life sent me that way for the purpose of finding work or something I would go back, but I would NEVER live anywhere South of Sheffield. One thing I am proud of more than anything is that I'm a Northerner
I just dont think I could deal with the amount of people in the city, I love my own space and privacy, I love being able to take a pee in a bus stop without people seeing me (lol) and I love the fact I can walk anywhere safely at any time of day and without bumping into 1500 people crammed together on the footpath when all I want is to get to tesco for some fecking beer!!
You dont generally get alot of what I crave in life in the city, especially one as big as Sheffield.Comment -

A few beverages out with the mates can turn nasty because these people decide to set upon yourself or your mates or both. I'm not saying random attacks don't happen to completely innocent people in the countryside however, I'm willing to bet that the chances are significantly less in the country. At least most of the time you get to walk home with no issues and no fears whatsoever for you safety. That part, I can envy.
I guess there is pros and cons to living anywhere or going anywhere.Comment -
