    Sport without gambling
Random question and its come about after reading the other thread, would you guys actually like or watch sports if there was no gambling involved?

I was talking to a mate about this at the weekend and we came to the conclusion that the answer was no, once you are bitten by the gambling bug thats it. No money = no interest.

I like watching soccer and bases, and have done for as long as I can remember, but without money involved in any way if I watch it for any great length of time I get bored and wonder what the actual point of it all is. I dont know if its the buzz of having money on that heightens the excitement, or whether sport is actually meaningless.

I never used to be or think like that, I used to be able to watch bases for 9 hours a night no bother, staying up until 6am was the norm for me, just to watch and see who won - but since I started betting I cant be bothered with that unless I have money down in some way, and its kinda sad really - things were alot less complicated before the gambling bug kicked in.

So, now you like to gamble (as im sure about 2% of posters here do, SBR points not withstanding) do you think you could ever go back to just enjoying watching sports for the spectacle, rather than the betting part?

    5...4...3...2...1...GO....

I will admit that having money on the game makes watching the game a LOT more interesting. However, I would still have a great interest in watching football (soccer) even if I didn't gamble on it. I don't bet on all the games that I watch. I'm a Liverpool fan and this season, Liverpool (as usual) were FAR too inconsistent to bet on. As a fan, I still loved watching the games though despite the crappy form of Liverpool.

I guess if there was no gambling we would get use to it and watching it without action, remember most of us watched sports before we could gamble on it.

Yes, true, but do you think you would ever be able to go BACK to that stage? Could you honestly quit gambling and maintain the same interest in sports as you do now?

I will admit even as a Liverpool fan, that Arsenal can play some amazing football. Very similar style of play to Barcelona which is an achievement although, you can admit that Barcelona are slight favorites in that style of play.

              I can't say I like Arshavin though

I hardly watch any sport now (and TV for most part). I only bet and yes, that excludes live betting.

i don't know, probably would watch much less. I'd only watch NBA Playoffs, NFL (any game really) especially the minnesota vikings though, and the minnesota twins. I can't watch every baseball game though, gets boring after awhile. Also all MLB Playoff games.

im sorry to say it but i have given up on the timberwolves, i know i should be more loyal
