Who's Hyped for the 2023 FIBA World Cup? Show of Hands, Please...

Gone are the days when the United States would just mail it in... No sir, we invented this game and we are bound determined to seize the gold in dominating fashion. Just look at the embarrassment of riches on Team USA's roster:

    Banchero

    Bridges

    ...wait, there's more

    Brunson

    Edwards

    Haliburton

...hang on to your seats, we're just getting started

    Hart

    Ingram

    Jackson Jr.

...and just when you thought the talent pool was exhausted

    Kessler

    Cam Johnson

...a gluttony of this degree should be illegal, but we're still stackin' world beaters

    Portis

    Reaves

I mean surely the mercy rule will be in place, won't it? You can't just butcher teams on national television.

Replies in this thread are hilarious. USA even with this roster are favored and probably still win this thing. Canada +500 may be worth a look

Should I help this guy out Eddy? LOL. And, sorry loadupyoura*s, soccer is fun to watch and has some of the best athletes in the world regardless of what you think about it. But, that's a whole other story in this case.

International basketball used to be intriguing... different ethnicities competing against each other with their brothers. Nowadays lots of Africans in Europe, like Schroder, making the squads and sometimes featuring prominently. So not that different from club basketball. Worst of all you've got these cowardly teams bringing in an American naturalised player to bolster their talent. Pathetic.

Basketball you say? But what does that have to do with soccer?

I think USA have a v.strong team this year. Certainly better than the '19 edition which failed... led by Mitchell/ Tatum/ Walker/ Turner. This was the beginning of Walker's demise. Popovich actually labelled him the lead guy on the team prior to the tournament. Had a bad tournament and then a disappointing season with the Knicks.

This year Ingram figures to be their lead guy, supported by Edwards/ Haliburton/ Brunson/ Jackson/ Kessler. These guys might not be house hold names but they will be. I will be looking to bet them early & often. btw basketball was invented by a Canadian.

This team has looked good in the showcase games... Great chemistry, I'll give 'em that. The pieces fit together well and the defense has been tenacious. Granted, Puerto Rico probably isn't any good, but Slovenia typically puts out a decent squad. If they played anyone else so far, I missed it.

Speaking of K.Walker, what a penetrating idiot. Says he wants to increase the notoriety of Euroleague via his signing with Monaco. Does he know what notoriety means? Does he think Monaco is a gang?

+100. The World Cup of basketball is nothing but garbage, the NBA championship is the true gold medal.

USA swept the exhibition games... Germany had them on the ropes though in the 2nd half before Anthony Edwards channeled his inner Kobe. They should rout New Zealand Saturday morning (U.S. time) in the first legit game, but things might get interesting if/when they meet those other top clubs.

The tallblacks have decent guards; the Webster brothers. Bright team overall. Pity Steven Adams wont suit up for them. Is he ashamed to do the Hacka?

    I forgot Adams was Kiwi.

You never know, USA might find themselves in a street fight they didn't bargain for. Whenever we've sent our B or C teams, we've had issues.

Think it was when we was younger and didn't get helped by the Basketball New Zealand by funding etc, he's always focused on the NBA and not been that interested in the national team for the reasons above. There was talk he was going to play this year but still out with the same injury that kept him out of the NBA playoffs I believe.

That would be incredibly petty. People play for their fellow countrymen, not the government nor the governing body.

Andre Iguodala made a tweet some years ago (the '19WC I think) mocking the Hacka and Adams replied not to disrespect other people's cultures, which got Iguodala to promptly delete it... Ironically it's a very African thing to be doing a war dance! Adams would have to be the centre piece of it, and for every game. Maybe a sensitive guy deep down.
