Wow, just rented and watched this and, ironically enough, it was a total piece of crap... Only thing that really disturbed me was the terrible plot... Honestly I've seen pornos that had better thought out scripts...
If you want a good horror film definitely watch Martyrs... If you want to watch something disturbing, Salo, 120 Days of Sodom, is a good candidate...

The most disturbing non-gory type of film I think I've seen was Fat Girl... I hesitate to mention it because, similar to Human Centipede, I think the film was terrible... I rate movies after I watch them on netflix (to keep track of what I've watch) so I know that this film isn't available there despite being easily available elsewhere... The only reason I assume you can't get through them is because of the content...

Fat Girl (B- Yahoo Movies)
Elena is a gorgeous fifteen-year-old forced to drag along pudgy twelve-year-old Anais as she trolls for boys in the cafes of a seaside resort where their family is vacationing. Treating Anais with casual cruelty, Elena smooches a handsome young Italian as her sister gorges on a banana split and later, in their shared bedroom, commands her to sleep as the twentysomething Fernando climbs in through the window. As Elena is deflowered, Anais writhes in fascination, envy and her own budding desire. When Elena's transgression is revealed to their parents, their furious mother breaks off the holiday and embarks on the long drive home with the girls in the back seat. The summer vacation is over but, as they discover on a tension-filled journey home, the family adventure is not.
That just sounds ****** up. Surprised it is a B-. If she wasn't fat it would change everything. But she is. I'll be passing.

Family Adventure? Not sure where you found that description but I don't think the person who wrote it actually watched the film (or at least the same one I watched)...

Another one I heard about recently was A Serbian Film... How I forgot about it I don't know but, judging from the wikipedia page, it doesn't look like they are much closer to getting a wide release but looks like you can find it through other means now... Not sure how much I should "spoil" what is clearly going to be a quality film so I will just post the intro from wikipedia and a description from IMDB...
<< A Serbian Film (Serbian: Српски филм / Srpski film) is a 2010 Serbian horror film, the first feature film directed by Srđan Spasojević. It tells the story of a down-on-his-luck porn star who agrees to participate in an "art film", only to discover that he has been drafted into a snuff movie with child rape and necrophilic themes. The film stars Serbian actors Srđan Todorović and Sergej Trifunović. Upon its debut on the art film circuit, the film received substantial attention for its graphic depictions of rape, necrophilia, and incest.
The state prosecution of Serbia opened an investigation regarding the movie to find out if it violates the Criminal Law of Serbia. It is being investigated for elements of crime against sexual moral or any crime related to the protection of minors. >>

I have never found gory or monster movies scary. Real scary movies are the real things, things that can really happen, not zombies & supernatural shit. The Strangers & Vacancy are 2 of the scariest movies I've seen recently. I used to live in hotels, so vacancy was a really good scary movie IMO.
I agree. The "scariest" movies are the ones that would possibly happen in real life.
Good call with Strangers and Vacancy.
But not in the same group, but the movie " The Collector" was a little fuckked up. Especially the part where he has him in the basement, and puts a little cut in the guys stomach, then takes a jar of cockroaches and sticks a lighter to the jar, and that forces the cockroaches to burrow their way into the guys stomach.
And when he ******* takes a little chisel and hammer and just taps it on the guys teeth softly.
That shit makes me cringe, just thinking of that happening.

Slasher, blood and guts does not bother me and I don't go out of my way to see that kind of stuff. A movie that I saw recently and found disturbing is Requiem For A Dream.

The movie kids reminds me of myself age 13-16 except nobody got aids and I never stole from my mom to buy dope. The craziest movies I've seen recently are The Antichrist (2009) and Ichi the Killer
Happiness is a pretty disturbing movie and I must say that it is excellent. Anyone ever seen it?
Amazing flick, that Happiness. One of my faves. Disturbing but hilarious at the same time.
I 100% agree w/ Irreversible. That movie is actually meant to unsettle you. Everything about it, the way the camera moves, the music, and the way they did a couple of scenes, so brutal!
Anyone ever seen "May"? There's another.

"Flower of Flesh and Blood"... Part of the Guinea Pig series from Japan. It freaked Charlie Sheen out enough to actually call the FBI. Can you imagine, Charlie Sheen (or Carlos Estevez as he's known around these parts) phoning authorities to report something? The fuzz having intimate knowledge of his viewing habits is the last thing Charlie wants. Looking back now, his role in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" was a mere glimpse into the future.
Man. Make sure you have someone rent these for you. This collection is enough to get you on the no-fly list or something.

This has to be another strong contender....
In a career marked by bad decisions, this is surely the worst. Uwe Boll has made a film titled Auschwitz in which he himself appears as a Nazi officer guarding a gas chamber full of Jews in mid-execution.
Midnight Express about the americans in a Turkish prison who got caught over there for drug possession. It's based on a true story and is brutal. It's from like 78 and Randy Quaid plays a serious role and is actually good in it.From what I hear,he's about in the same mental condition these days as he is in the movie.

not that I am a fan of QT, but would have been interesting to see what he would have done with his own script instead of what Stone put out.
although I am glad he didn't direct True Romance cause it was pret ner perfect.

Agree totally. Watched it when it first came out and felt horrible for the rest of the day.
