Yep, the happiest people I know are completely uninformed and oblivious about so many things in the world. A really great example are kids - they are so happy because they haven't learned about how F-ed up the world is and all the problems they will face.

I have a sister that lives a really safe lifestyle. She's a really smart college teacher (physics), totally set financially with retirement, etc. No kids or family to worry about but she's super-worried about her health and germs and things like that and basically unhappy. Almost as though she's run out of things that actually pose a threat to her so she subconsciously makes up things to worry and be be unhappy about.

I'm much less "set" that sis. I probably make close to the same money but work in a volatile industry where my income goes up/down and have a wife, four kids and all the stress and BS that comes along with that. I'm often worry and wouldn't describe myself as overly happy.

In the end 99% of the people on this board really don't have real things to worry about. As in we really don't have threats to our health or lives. We have "First-World Problems" as I like to describe them.

I'm an IT Mainframe Operations Analyst in real life, trust me when I say I wasn't fooling around when I leave the office with a migraine type headache from analyzing why a certain program failed for instance.
