    Barney Frank secures #39
It's a slow process and all, but it looks like Frank is starting to get some more support on this one.

Another IGREA signature comes rolling in

One more signature has been added to the Internet Gambling Regulation Enforcement Act. Steve Cohen, a Democrat in Tennessee, is the 39th sponsor of Barney Frank’s bill H.R. 2046.

The bill, which seeks to legalize and regulate online gaming, needs 218 sponsors in order to pass the House and move on to the Senate.

Wow, only 39 of 218 needed in the House. It almost seems like an unreachable goal, and then it has to get thru the Senate, doubtfull at best JMO

It is my hope that due to the WTO scandal, the UIGEA will simply be repealed or deemed unconstitutional. Then there will be no need for Franks bill. I think that is our best shot.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, I am wrong a lot.

Danny why do you think Frank's bill is a good thing? It allows all the sports leagues to opt out, and would completely kill the hope for legalized sports betting in America. Not only would we lose all hope for future legalized sports shops domestically, but we would also destroy the legit options we have offshore. "JC" has posted a bunch on this issue previously. Would love if you could help me catch something good about this that I'm missing....

I was going to ask the same question. The bill does not help, plus it won't pass anyways. Silly to waste time watching that nonsense.

Afraid I got to echo BB and SS's points. We are several miracles down in this game.

Who cares, we will sacrifice a little sense of security and a bit of inconvenience (ok pain in ass), but in the end we will still find ways to do what we love to do. Maybe there's smoother sailing for us in the future, but I can tell you one thing I'm not betting on it!
