I mean the money is already spent on him, however having him play is hurting the team.

Josh Becket could go 0 for 4 with 2 K's.... anybody on the team could, and anybody in the minors could also....

Only option is to outright cut him, if they want to get rid of him. I can't see anyone giving anything up for him.

If Andruw Jones could revive his career somewhere, so can Ortiz. If he leaves the Sox another team will take him. Maybe the Athletics who have absolutely zero power hitting.

I doubt it, they are two vastly different players -- Ortiz is a one trick pony who dosen't have that trick - his type of players with that body type are notorious for just losing it all of the sudden --

Jones was a different story, not only did he still have obvious tools, the main cause of his issue - weight gain - was corrected, and even still, its yet to be seen how much jones has "revived" his career. He still onlu posted a league average 782 OPS last year is part time play - and has started good this year but only over 25 games, and he also had similar stat last year at this time.

I don't see it happening anytime soon. He started bad last year, they're just gonna hope he has a good 2nd half.

Sure, why not? It's a business. There's no value in keeping around a player that isn't going to contribute on the field for sentimental reasons.

Lowell went 4 for 4 yesterday and still doesn't get in there tonight. Lowell should be in there at DH every night, he is batting .300 this season.

Yep lowell deserves more playing time at least since he's playing better than ortiz and give them a better chance to win

I was at the game tonight, and people started booing him after he went 0-3..then he grounded into a double play with the bases loaded, and the saddest part was that when the bases were loaded, everyone at fenway knew he was going to get out. he looked silly swinging at some of the pitches when he struck out, he wasn't even getting close to it. kinda feel bad for the guy

It's amazing this bum's been around for so long. The last 3 years have been dog shit, hasn't even gotten 100 RBIs PY. This year he has the lowest AVG on the team, atrocious slug %, and 6 RBIs...6 RBIs through 27 games is just unspeakable. The shit of shit power/in a slump hitters in this league have twice that.

But he's like some big loveable teddy bear you have a sentimental connection to and pay 13 million to sit on the bench, strike-out and hit double-play balls in the clutch 4 times a night.
